Where do you people get the money?

» Well, as we all know hair transplant is a VERY costly procedure.

The cost of my transplant was roughly six months of extra mortgage payments.
EG Instead of a twenty or thirty year mortgage, it would take us an additional six months at the end.
My wife and I both agreed that my personal happiness (major understatement, by the way  ) was well worth a measly six months extra!

Let me get this straight. You came all the way from Sydney (home of the world-famous inventor of FUE, Dr. Ray Woods) to California to have FUE? Things that make you say “Hmmm”. Your pics look great. I am glad that you are happy with your results.

Happy regrowth!

Thanks Jt.
It was purely a monetary decision that ended up working out brilliantly.
Naturally I receieved a quote from Dr Woods, (who practices less than twenty minutes from my house, by the way) and for the cost of 1000 grafts with him, I received 3000 grafts with Dr Umar, as well as my entire trip paid for. I work for a major airline, which helps enormously with airfare, however it still costs a few thousand with accomodation etc, and all of this was covered in the cost of the original 1000 grafts.
A simple decision, I found, which hopefully clears up any cynicism/skeptisim/confusion  you may have.

Merry Xmas.

For me, at 23, it did come down to a new car (with payment) or an HT.

I spent about $2,000 to $4000 every 1.5 years or so from 1992 to 2003.
I had 16 strips to “keep up with my hairloss”.
Then BHT to soften the 1990s HT hairline last year.

NOT A PATH I WOULD RECOMMEND TODAY.
(I am one of the lucky ones.)

Finance it if need me.
I drove an older car for many, many years.
It was worth it, in my case.

Merry Christmas!

There are a lot of different companies now that do cosmetic financing.

» You cant compare a car to a ht. A car is a necessity (unless you want a
» Mercedes) but HT is luxury item.

That’s true, but most people tend to overspend to get the vehicle they want. For example, my buddy and I work at the same place. I bought a $30,000 new truck, and he bought a $10,000 used truck. His truck gets him around just fine. It meets his transportation needs. My truck also meets my transportation needs, but it’s also a great looking truck! If I had bought a truck that met my needs but not my wants, I’d have $20K to spend on the head of hair I want. I think that is Heliboy’s point. A car is a necessity, but we tend to overspend on our cars (which depreciate fast) and them moan about how we wish we could afford a hair transplant. We can afford a hair transplant if we spend less on things like cars.

Has anyone tried those financing companies for cosmetic surgeries? What kind of interest rate and payment terms are we talking about ?

I haven’t read the entire posts so forgive if i repeat. I think that some do over price and take the p£$s out of us. I have no problem paying for it but will not go to the highest bidder when he says he is the best. I think there is a fine line here, they should be good at what they do and be paid for it, but to abuse the patient, and that goes on is where this business loses all credibility.

i wouldnt be surprised they charge 10% or more, it’s not worth it. Save up the cash and pay it outright, that’s what I am trying to do. Maybe hair multiplication will be available by the time you have enough $$$ and you won’t have to bother with hair transplant at all

Just sell drugs or rob casinos or something.

The success rate & risk of permanent bodily harm in these fields probably aren’t any worse than with cut-rate bargain HTs.
