DHT is an Androgen:
“Dihydrotestosterone (DHT): a metabolite of testosterone, and a more potent androgen than testosterone in that it binds more strongly to androgen receptors”
» Nizoral is a DHT blocker. Seems to be some debate on this.

Ketoconazole is pretty non-specific on it’s impact on androgens. I believe this is part of the reason it works better than substances that target DHT only.
Nizoral is not regulated by the FDA so when it was originally provided to the consumer, there were no clinical trials completed to establish its efficacy. The results vary quite a bit between patients. If it works favorably, by all means keep using it.

It is prescribed and approved by the FDA as an anti-fungal; in the US the 2% concentration required a script.
The fact the WHO lists Ketoconazole as a potent chemical with a potentially serious impact on human endocrinology is a completely different thing.
The first is why many people don’t understand how Nizoral can impact hairloss, the second clearly explains it’s mechanism (e.g. thru action on all androgens). Interestingly Nizoral impacts Adrenal as well as HPTA endocrinology; this is part of the reason I believe it works so well for people that may not react to simple DHT treatments.

ok thanks. but do you buy the ingredients individually from somewhere and mix them up? or you buy it already made? WHERE do you order it from (website link)? thanks mate.
click on that ebay link and look closer. “ketoconazole 20mg per 1G”. I believe that IS nizoral 2% cream. That’s exactly where I bought my nizoral cream from…ebay. That’s the exact same product I bought too.
» » that seems to be the standard way of listing 2 percent is by that ratio

» thanks guys. but don’t you get skin irritation and rushes because of

i suppose anything could cause a reaction with some people
I have not noticed boardmembers complaining of that problem,
If you look at the recent Japan nizoral study they say it works by suppressing the androgen receptor and also by being a non androgen related growth stimulator. So its not blocking DHT like propecia does.

»
» Use is ONLY as a topical and you should be ok; should be far less effect
» than using systemic drugs like Finasteride or Dutasteride.
»
» Nizoral (Ketoconazole) impacts a broader set of hormones (DHEA, Estrogen,
» etc) so should only be used topically.

“suppressing the androgen receptor” = blocking DHT.
DHT is an androgen. Supressing the receptor is stopping it from being receptive to androgens (DHT), ie. blocking androgens (DHT).
