This artical looks very good.I have kept your article on the desktop of my computer. The day I feel depressed and lost, it is when I make it a point to open your article. This surely encourages me in a positive manner to do well and reminds me that I am not the only one facing the problem, there are many others like me. Thank You a ton for writing such a wonderful piece of information.
Everyone here is my 8 week update from my second procedure. The healing has gone just as well as for my first procedure and now it’s only a matter of having the hairs grow out in the recipient area. For those interested in the bht numbers I have had over 2 procedures a total of 491 beard hairs in a fairly concentrated area around the chin since my beard is not very strong and approximately 216 chest hairs and if my math is correct the scalp donor was 1141 over 2 procedures. BHR please correct those numbers if I have made any errors.
Thanks again to BHR for even accepting me as a patient. It was a very risky proposition but they are an ethical, honest and well run clinic and for that I am very grateful. I would also like to say that I hope my many posts on several forums do not come off as being too abrasive as I really consider myself mild manner and willing to help and give to anyone. This whole long 25+ year journey has just added a great deal of stress to my life so I hope most here understand.
A totally unimpressive result.
» A totally unimpressive result.
Obviously you have not read the thread, the sub heading or are you familiar with the history. There is no result to even judge at this point as its 8 weeks since the surgery so why would you have expected to be impressed. The posting is meant for those that are considering body and beard hair. Close to 500 fue were extracted from my face in a fairly concentrated area. The pictures are posted for the benefit of others to evaluate the donor area 8 weeks out and are meant to be informative in nature.
I am taking a very slow approach as I feel it is wise.
Your beard and chest area healing very quickly. Hardly anything visible at all. That is very encouraging for people who are considering this type of surgery. Hopefully you will get a good yield again.
Did all of the hairs transplanted two months ago now fallen out? When do you expect them to start growing (based on your experience from the first surgery)?
I would like to know if the beard/body hairs behave similarly to the scalp hairs, i.e. fall out in the first few weeks after the surgery and then start growing in two-three months.
Cheers
Hi Vas, yes I would say the healing for me personally was incredibly quick. I was out eating at a restaurant the day after surgery and walking about Brussels. One also has to keep in mind that my beard is not very strong so all the fue’s close to 500 were taken from an area of approximately 2 square inches, which is quite small. This is what makes this posting valuable. The close up pictures under an extremely intense and harsh light at only 8 weeks out for others to form their own view on how well it heals.
I would say a few of the hairs continued to grow but most fell out. I should start to see some growth in another month or two, but right now it’s about healing. I know how important this information is for those that have limited donor and at the same time want to make an improvement that looks normal as opposed to some that to be honest look bizarre to me.
I would say each person is different when it comes to how well the beard and bodyhair blends in with the scalp hair. My hairs seem to be of similar thickness or close enough that for me that it looks very good in my opinion.
I update my thread on a consistent basis and you will be able to judge for yourself at monthly intervals. I hope this is helpful because I know how important this information is when doing research. I have always kept my eyes open in the past for similar types of threads that were thoroughly documented. Both before and after pictures are always posted including both the recipient and donor areas.

Hi topcat611,
Thanks for all your updates. I want you to know I am wishing you the best.
I have similar problems as you, almost identical. Plugs, excisions, but no flaps. All done years ago. Left me a mess.
Recently, about 5 years ago, 3 strips, cutting out plug donor of the past and salvaging about 1200 grafts to use on my frontal.
Today I find that the grafts as well as the plugs have thinned out at least 70 percent. Plugs of the past are gone almost completely. No one can answer why.
I have read that beard hair transplants into scar tissue works well. What do you think? I Can’t afford, losing further donor, expense, time, and the chance that newly transplanted hairs fall out in a few years.
I value your opinion.
Hossman, I can relate to what you wrote in your post because I too had huge 4mm plugs placed into my youthful hair line by Dr. Puig when I was 23. I have come to believe that some of the other clowns that performed work as I was now a repair patient transected so many hairs in the recipient area that this is what caused the plugs to thin out. But that was always a wild guess.
Beard hair definitely grows and I have found that it heals very well. If you have good beard hair and you think the caliber is such that it would blend it well than I would say give it a try. Go for a very small test procedure and evaluate both the healing and growth. If it goes well it will give you hope and help to instantly change your outlook. Then just plan a small procedure and take it one step at a time.
Just go slow and be cautious. Sometimes the forums can be so corrupt. It’s hard to figure out who all the players are unless you have been here a very long time. As soon as one leaves there is another to take their place. Be careful of who you believe, which you probably already know. But it is kind of interesting to watch the posters who come and go on the forums. It’s just too bad that many could care less about that young life that they destroy.
I wish you good luck and if you would ever like to contact me through e-mail or on the phone I would be happy to speak about my experience.

Not if you follow the case from the start. Which you obviously did not do.
If a doctor places few hundred body/beard hairs and around 100% of them grow, that is some seriously impressive stuff.

Hi Topcat,
Thanks for your reply.
I am curious to know if any of the beard hair was transplanted directly onto scar tissue?
Have any of the doctors you have dealt with ever explained why the plugs stopped growing hair?
Has cortisone shots ever come into conversation as a solution to the plugs growing hair again?
This must all be tough for you Topcat. Hang in there. You are almost there. I see progress.
Awaiting your reply.
Hossman,
For me personally as of yet no beard hairs have been planted directly into scar tissue.
I have never asked about why some hairs stop growing, so I can’t answer that question.
Same with the cortisone shots although I have wondered if PRP would be of any use in that situation.
Thank you for the well wishes.

Healing looks good , be good to see the result when its grown out wishing you all the best at this early stage …
re unimpressive result thats because result is to early to be known couple of months out !
Ejj
Thank you for the support.
The poster who made that unimpressive comment is the same poster who read the complaint by the poster posting for the 4 French guys and stated he didn’t see what the problem was as if it all looked fine to him. Who is this poster? Why did he post this? And who does he work for? I have been around the forums for a very long time and I have gotten to know how it all works.
Yes when I point out the truth about specific clinic I am told I have an axe to grind. I have no axe to grind but it makes me sick to my stomach when I see young men being misled and going to clinics that I know have a very long history of complaints which have either been deleted or forgotten.
So this poster’s comment should mean absolutely nothing to anyone doing research.
topcat do you think a bht test is necessary?I saw white dots in a previous post and i am shocked.

I have had 500 fue extracted from my face over a very small area approximately 2 sq inches and I have no scarring. I have also have extractions from the chest area with no scarring. A very small hand punch was used. Regardless I would never suggest any ever proceed without doing a small test. It’s irresponsible in my opinion. And even after a small test I would only suggest procedures where the numbers are not too high.
I came to this conclusion about 1 year ago. Even though I knew it was the only clinic that I really felt comfortable with, I was still hesitant in taking the leap. Read my blog and view my pictures and I think you can understand why. It was only recently when the pro bono offer was made to forum members that I thought I really need to get this process started and maybe this offer was my one chance in a lifetime.

Topcat,
I am a reader of this forum, and other forums, who has read with interest your consistent promotion of Dr. Bisanga’s clinic, even though you have little to no result. Maybe you will grow an impressive result in the future, but as of now, you don’t have one.
Fordham, that could very well be true and of course I have to give you the benefit of the doubt. Having been around the forums and understanding how they work sometimes maybe I am just jumping to conclusions.
I decided to take a very slow and cautious approach because I feel this is the best decision for myself. So my result will not be evident any time soon but I am okay with that. I was just highlighting the healing at this point and time. I also am very limited in what can be achieved but I am still hoping to take it as far as I can with any available donor.
Having fue’s extracted from the body and face is not something I believe anyone should jump into with both feet. Hopefully my experience and postings will be of benefit to others.

Topcat, on the other end of the spectrum I would like to let you know that the extra time that you post to “educate” and your “honest” pictures are much appreciated. Your obvious contributions to helping others deserve more than useless comments like “a totally unimpressive result” Those of us a little more open minded can appreciate: the close ups and healing of your extraction sites, placement and angulation of grafts, the in detail explanations of your goals and expectations, etc. If there wasn’t guys like you there would be a LOT of guys like me that would be making important future decisions blind. Thanks again.
