oops got the answer!!
good luck!!
Looking forward to my second procedure with BHR. I’m not quite sure of the numbers as I am a repair patient. It will be a combination of any available scalp donor which is not much, along with chest and beard hair. I am scheduled for Jan. 14 and will keep everyone updated.
Are you getting transplants up front to construct the hair line?
Don’t forget to take along a camera to document it.
I brought my camera for the first procedure but didn’t really need it. The clinic takes very high quality photos and video.

Good Luck Topcat! It is a slow process in getting repaired but well worth it in the end. As a Brandy botch job like you, I understand the situation very well. Keep us posted.
I will have the pictures of my 2nd fue repair procedure taken the first 3 days with BHR up within a few days. This post is meant just to inform others of my experience with the clinic. It is not meant to come off as cheerleading. As I honestly believe that those that can learn to live with less hair might be better off doing nothing at all. But for those that are considering a procedure this is the best clinic in the world in my opinion. Having been around for over 25 years I know something about all the so called top clinics that are out there.
I am not afraid to speak to patients on the phone or to have them in my home. So I do feel this gives me an advantage in some way. Hearing their present day horror stories from so called top clinics sometimes makes my jaw drop. But unfortunately many of them have one thing in common in that they will not post their experience on the forums so don’t wait to hear about them.
Visiting Brussels the second time around was much easier since it now is somewhat familiar. If Dr. Bisanga were here in the United States he could easily be considered the triple threat by other clinics. He is a master of strip, fue, and the use of body and beard hair. What actually gives him the biggest advantage over the few doctors that have the skill to perform all three is that he is the only one in the world that is a naturally born artist. I have seen the results of other clinics while also seeing the results of BHR in person. It’s not even up for debate he stands alone.
Phil the clinic director is a vast store of knowledge in the hair transplantation industry. The clinic has a way of just telling it like it is regardless if it means losing a client. In the end it often comes down to basic math and sometimes they need to save the prospective patient from themselves. Unfortunately these same patients can often end up at competing clinics resulting in regrets that will last a lifetime. Many returning to BHR looking this time for some type of repair. BHR will always do their best to try and help them. But once the canvas has been soiled even the best clinic in the world has difficulty in making it whole again. If you are one of these patients that went to a highly promoted clinic only to find out it was just hype, tell your story. You have the opportunity to help others avoid your fate. Maybe by coming out of the shadows and doing something good you in turn will see good come back to you. I know it is hard admitting you made a mistake and got suckered in to believing something, but that is just part of life.
Stephen the US consultant is a man of many talents. He possesses a quick wit making even the most nervous of patients feel calm, comfortable and relieved of any tension. He is extremely attentive, always checking in on patients during the procedure and making sure every need is met. He is the epitome of customer service. Stephen’s own multiple procedures with BHR are absolutely flawless when examined up close.
All the technicians were equally as great. Since I have worked in customer service for well over 30 years I tend to pick up on the smallest of cues. You can tell so much about a person and how well they enjoy their job by how often they smile. Natasha and Natalie the techs that helped work on my case were always smiling and had the ability to have an occasional laugh while they worked throughout the long day.
I did not have to write any of these thoughts. In fact BHR might even think I am being over the top. But I believe every word I have written as it is the truth. It important for me to say because I know how this industry operates. I think I have been handling all the previous bad work that has been performed on me very well. Others might not have the same optimism that I do and that is where the real danger lies. For those these words may literally be a matter of life and death.
As you can see the healing has been going quite well. Everyone’s physiology is different and I attribute some of the speed at which I am healing to the ability of Dr. Bisanga to use very small hand punches. The hand punches almost seem to be an extension of his hand and he is able to feel exactly how deep the punch should go while often having to contort his own body to be in the proper position.
I also am very meticulous about my diet and eat mostly nutrient dense foods which I believe helps to make a difference in the speed of healing. The patient should assume some of the responsibility for the healing process as it can directly be controlled by many of their lifestyle habits along with several other factors. Obviously if you are eating a diet that promotes inflammation as opposed to lowering inflammation the healing process will be compromised.
I will shave the beard area in approximately 3-4 weeks to avoid any unnecessary irritation to the donor area. The harder part will be avoiding heavy exercise of which I have been accustomed to doing on a daily basis.
I will provide a weekly update for the next 4 weeks, and then continue as before with a monthly update. Obviously being 100% repaired is a pipe dream. But I would like to use as much chest and beard hair as possible and take it as far as I can go over time.
To those that believe FUE causes white dot scarring you are absolutely right. In the wrong hands it does cause white dot scarring. Clinics that have no experience using large punches or drills give the procedure a bad name. Just like all the butchers that are doing strip but have a very low level of skill.
FUE is an advanced procedure, but that doesn’t mean everyone should hop on to the bandwagon. Chances are most are not blessed with the manual dexterity or the sensitive touch that is required. Those are the clinics that are doing more harm then good. Please do these young men a favor and stop offering it.

Hi topcat
Happy Growing from my side here. I have some questions. They are not about hair transplants only but more about approaches…
-
With knowledge of today January 2011 (including possibilitiesabout HM and Acell Things) what would you do when you where 10 years ago before your first ht?
-
Have you ever considered to use Acell Plugged hairs or anything to try it
-
How are your general feelings towards upcoming possibilities towards “Kicking Hairloss´s As* for good”?
-
Keep the beard, looks good.
Thanks in advance
PS: If you think those questions are stupid just ignore them
Stevie,
Well my first transplant was 25 years ago and I actually did not need one. I just wanted to add a few hairs to my temples, but what Dr. Puig did was give me about 40-50 huge and unsightly 4 mm plugs into my hairline. I was completely devastated but I was young and naïve. Much like many young men I see on these forums who think they know but happen to be completely clueless. It’s sad to see someone who ends up feeling suicidal a few years after a clinic gives them their Eddie Munster hairline. Then you have the clinics that are doing these huge mega body, beard hair sessions that often look bizarre. It’s all about image and marketing but too many can’t see that. All it takes is a slick video with someone portraying themselves as an artist and these young men eat it up.
With that being said and if I understand your question correctly, I would only opt for FUE and the only clinic I would go to is BHR. I would make sure to completely understand the math which most neglect. It would give one hair at the moment while also being able to pursue any advanced treatment in the future. It also gives one the option of just shaving it all off in a worst case scenario. But obviously if you go to someone that is performing FUE and doesn’t know what they are doing you could easily lose that option. Shot gun white dotting is a reality and these clinics that do not have the skill give the procedure a bad name. One also has to understand that if you are severely bald chances are a hair transplant is not for you.
Regarding Acell plugged hair, I no longer desire to be the first one in the water. Unfortunately those risks are usually taken by the 20 something’s often with disastrous results. If the procedure worked there would be loads of pictorial proof. I don’t buy the bullsh*t any more, put up or shut up. Anyone that would pay to have something tested on them is desperate. Those same clinics can smell that desperation as soon as you walk into the room. They will not only make hair extractions, but will extract you life savings.
But I am also very optimistic that better treatments will become available and that unlimited donor will eventually become a reality.
Thank you very much for your time. Especially your last words are helpful to others. Because it is much more valuable to hear from someone who had a bad hairtransplant in the past BUT is not bitter or hating everything.
Thats why i asked this questions about unlimited Donor and stuff.
Thanks again
i agree with the poster who said keep the trimmed beard. it suites you well. in my case if I try to grow a beard, i look like a caveman or a bank robber.
is there any way you can have the transplant scars filled in with follicles and shave your head or is that out of the question. that might be the best way forward instead of trying to recreate a full head of hair with limited donor supply.
Freddie, I actually like that idea but I’m not sure if it’s possible with the limited donor. I will have to see what happens in time.
10 days post op. I trimmed the donor area to get a better idea of the healing. But I will wait 3-4 weeks to shave.
The following photos are of my 2 nd procedure 2 weeks post op. They include all the donor areas, beard, chest and scalp. Along with the receipent area.
Good luck with the regrowth topcat! Do you believe in Histogen, Follica or Adreans etc?
Also do you take protein shakes because you are hench man
Jason I purchased my first protein powder when I was about 12. I had to order it by mail because it wasn’t available in the store. It tasted like crap and gave me gas and diarrhea, but I kept drinking it. Why, because the man pictured in the magazine with all the muscle said that was what he was drinking. That was 36 years ago and over all that time I became very familiar with the supplement market.
What’s interesting about the supplement market is that it’s just that, marketing. No different then what we see with hair transplants. You have some clinics showing super low dense hairlines in their marketing, doctors prancing around with their camera wanting you to believe they are artists, while others site their recent article in a peer reviewed journal. It’s all a lot of horsesh*t with it’s only intention, get you to buy.
What I learned about health and fitness over all this time was that doctors probably know the least. The body was meant to consume nutrient dense food just the way they are found in nature. There are those out there that would like you to believe that they can improve on nature but in reality all they can improve is their bank account. If you consume whole natural foods not only will you be fitter you will be healthier and have little need for doctors.
Here is a little tidbit for you. Years ago cheese processors would have to pay someone to pick up the left over whey from making cheese. It was considered a waste product. But someone figured out that they could dry it and sell it as a powder and now it’s one of the biggest selling supplements ever. I’m not saying that it has no benefit, but a greater benefit could be had by consuming the real food. Which is raw milk straight from a cow that has been eating its natural diet which it grass. Something that was done for hundreds of years when health came before profit.
I think all those companies that you mentioned could possibly have potential and that it’s only a matter of time before HM or some source of an unlimited donor supply is available. The only area where I would be cautious is where something is hyped but there is no actual proof that it even works to any great degree. This appeals to the most desperate and usually just empties their wallets. The truth always comes to the surface, but those that profited the most are usually long gone.
What exactly is “nutrient dense food”?

I read through it.
Not sure I buy the theory that primitives were better off nutritionally than we are today.
