Thanks for the feedback. Good point. I’ll follow it.
Regarding your experience, were you one who said Dut caused breast growth? How long had you been taking this when it happened? Did you ever try topical Dut vs. taking it orally?

» I am going to start a log of my results on the following regime which I am
» in the process of starting up. But first I have some questions that are
» asked in the parantheses below:
»
» 0.5 Dutasteride daily
» Rogaine Foam 2x daily (should I only apply it to the crown and vertex or
» also to my hairline)?
» Nizoral 2% cream (how often do people suggest?)
» 1g Lysine daily
» 2,000 mcg Biotin daily
» 4 g daily MSM
» 10g of L-Arginine (this is said to stimulate the release of growth
» hormone, especially in those who exercise)
» Multivitamin
»
» Any thoughts?
I am officially declaring what works for me. This regime has caused a lot of vellus hairs to sprout and some of them seem as if they’re turning into terminal hairs. Judging by what I am experiencing now, it looks like it will just restore a couple years worth of loss and that it will take more than 6 months to show really noticeable effect simply because it will take that long for the short hairs I have now to grow to adequate length and thickness.
I am sure it’s mostly the Dutasteride. I have experienced very minor shedding, but more than usual. Usually, because of what I was using before – fish, borage, flax oil and SP and beta sis – I had almost no shedding. But I had less growth. Now growth is happening.
I switched to topical Dut in aloe vera gel and I will take 320 mg of SP a day with 120 mg beta sis.

While Dut does work for me at least as well as I can imagine something working, I am having to take a break because of the depression, headaches, memory loss side effects. I haven’t decided what my approach will be or whether I’ll even go back on…I think maybe I’ll stick with a two minutes of topical application a couple of times a week approach and leave it at that.

you are bombarding your self with dangerous drugs, DUT can be absorbed systemically
I would rather go bald than take all the drugs you are taking
have you already tried a combo of pygeum nettles Saw Palmetto and a super hair vitamin? if not why not
its like you are trying for a gold medal in every hair drug on the market

I may be a lucky one when it comes to tolerance. I have the same sex drive as I did 20 years ago (40 this yr), no bitch tits and no noticable headaches or ‘fog’. I had a full blood panel with hormones about two years ago and all checked out well. I’d love to say I have had noticable growth, but can’t really. Hence the mega session with H&W. The area they didn’t touch was the crown and I haven’t looked at it for some time. I will take a pic this w/e to compare to prior pictures and see if I’m not too lazy to post the comparison.
I was serious about the dut question though. I am interested in overall health more than a full head of hair. Barring the obvious noted side effects, if there is a known indicator of toxicity, I’d love to know.

have you tried naturals and had no sucess?
I have stopped my balding totally, since 99 all with naturals, well i did try niz cream a year ago for 3 months and had good success with that but 99 percent of my success is with naturals
HIT - Ever since I started my battle back in 96, I’ve basically taken/used my current regiment (in part) plus Rogaine and every other snake oil that was the latest cure. As far as ‘naturals’, only the supplements I’m currently taking (plus Lysine @ times). I get 99% of them from http://www.lef.org.

if they are working and the side effects are worth it, then stick with it
if they are not working then why are you still taking this regimen

A few things: I chose my handle as going all out because I am trying a lot of things, but as BRM points out only DUT is the questionable one. Minoxidil and Nizoral are the other drugs I am using and they are topical. I am not trying a lot of drugs – all the other things I have been taking are vitamins/minerals/naturals.
Of course I tried DUT because of its effectiveness and I am acutely aware of its side effects and potential for problems. I was obviously willing to risk these – and may still be topically with fewer applications.
DUT has obvious effectiveness. Topical DUT is the ONLY thing that cured me of my scalp itch that I know correlates with my areas of hair loss.
Everybody is different. One of the reasons why this board is helpful and why people spend time on it, I am sure, is because everyone responds differently to different things.
While I am wary about DUT, I was obviously willing to risk things as I said. If one eats an oleander plant, one will die of poisoning. Oleanders are natural and are plants. I am not taken in by the dogma that what is natural is necessarily good for you.

maintaining is as good as regrowth, to those who were previously losing
its not at all easy to do…I have mantained and thickened since 99 and I thank my lucky stars to be one of the guys who is able to do this
