The patient “Flash” is a known repair case to the forum. Many have commented that his case was hopeless and to the effect that he is impossible to fix.
He has thus far undergone 3 major SFET sessions since the first time he graced our doors 18 months ago. He has thus far received a total of about 20,000 grafts mostly BHT (Chest, arms, abdomen, pubic and shoulders) and beard hair. Only about 500 grafts were salvaged from the removal and redistribution of his plugs as well as his almost non existence scalp donor.
He is 6 months out of his last major procedure with still further improvement to follow.
At this 6 month mark after his last session, his progress is presented following self explanatory photo sequence.

That’s amazing in my book. I bet he’s definitely pleased so far. Gives a lot of people hope. Congratulations Flash and excellent work Dr. Umar. Can’t wait for my procedure!!
Fantastic work, Dr Umar.
You’ve yet again given somebody a new lease on life, which few would disagree is one of the greatest gifts you could give.
I applaud you, as always!
» » Great work Dr. Umar!!! Has the butcher that did this to him to

»
» Did I read that right? 20,000 grafts??? How many weeks did he spend in
» the surgical chair in order to get 20,000 ?
Let’s see,
If Dr. Umar does 1000 grafts a day = 20 days
If Dr. Umar does 2000 grafts a day = 10 days
If Dr. Umar does 2500 grafts a day = 8 days
If Dr. Umar does 3000 grafts a day = 6.67 days
I don’t know how many grafts Dr. Umar can do per day but I don’t think he can do more than 3000, in other words it took anywhere from 1-3 weeks to complete this repair for Flash. It’s not too bad considering he was in such bad shape before.

I am surprised Dr. Umar’s hand didn’t get cramp up after 20000 extractions.

This was done in 3 major sessions over an 18 month period so it was roughly 6,500 in 3 sessions 6 months apart (I’m speculating). Probably 5-6 days per session.
Some of us have been through bad situations from past procedures but Flash has to be the worst I have seen . I can’t say its unbelieveable that he looks so good now with his BHT coverage because I know from first hand experience Dr Umar’s abilities -but the life-changing experience that he must feel has to be overwhelming .
This is yet again another large scale case that is validated to prove what role BHT plays and how much is required for achieving coverage. At least now any misconception or theory of 1:1 coverage scalp vs body hair can be more understood and realized for those looking at their own situations and trying to figure how much body hair it takes to achieve sufficient coverage.
» Wow!! Wow!!!
»
» I don’t want to sound Hilary Clinton-ish, but this actually made me tear

»
» The temples/parietal area really came in very nicely and very even!!
Not to worry, you already have my vote:-)

20,000 is a scary number. But on the other hand, you are the only doctor who had done such large scale bht and have results to show. This is good news for guys who need repair. I wish more doctors who dare to experiment and push the limits like you did.

It is a large number (20,000), but a lot of hair had to be transplanted into scars along side and back of head as well. Not to mention the huge scar that he had on top of his head.
This is one of the best if not the best examples of repair that I’ve seen. Remember, this was literally an “impossible case”. I can’t imagine the pain and agony that Flash had been living with all these years. You can take a look at the little body fat this guy has and see that he takes good care of himself.
Dr Umar should be commended for taking care of him. I’m sure Flash is immensely pleased.
Definately an improvement. But from the pics of his chest and abdomen it looks like most hairs were harvested from these areas. Any chance of a breakdown of exact numbers?
