I always wonder if steroids will work with pattern hairloss too since steroids are used to treat alopecia areata (hairloss caused by immune system).

I think steroids are not such a good idea, because testosterone and DHT are steroids (they have the “steroid nucleus” of carbon rings). If steroids are put into the body (especially a man’s), a small amount will be converted into DHT by existing pathways which will accelerate hair loss - unless you’re taking a strong DHT inhibitor.
