borage oil, flax seed oil, hemp oil or evening primrose oil
people dont know this but these are natrual dht blockers, albeit mild and over time, if you are consistent enough will make your hair grow in thicker, starting off at a lower dosage an building your way up MAY eliminate the diffused shedding that people experience when starting new treatmens.

theres no one dht blocker pill,i can take instead of taking all these separately?
» borage oil, flax seed oil, hemp oil or evening

What specifically do you mean by a “DHT blocker”, and why do you think the oils you mentioned above would do such a thing?

ala, gla etc they are apparently dht blockers.
theres no one dht blocking pill apart from propecia but people take a combo od saw palmetto and beta sis to block dht but i had a very bad experience with this and would not recommend it, but if you really want to block dht saw palmetto ALONE may be ok for you, if you are at early stage mpb.

Bryan has given up on trying to save his hair from falling out. He doesn’t even have a regimen.
There are quite a few commercial “prostate formulas” available. They usually contain a variety of herbs and vitamins that are purported to inhibit the formation of DHT (e.g. saw palmetto, beta sitosterol, pygeum).

Are you saying you think they are 5a-reductase inhibitors, like finasteride and dutasteride? Certain specific fatty acids like OA, ALA, GLA, etc., are 5a-reductase inhibitors, but natural oils like the ones you mentioned before (borage, flax, hemp, evening primrose, etc.) are not. They don’t have that effect.

What do you think of essential oils like Tea Tree, Lavender etc?

yes i do believe this even though i have not tried any of them.
the natrual oils borgae, flax etc contain most of those acids.
many people taking flax seed oil have noticed hair shedding/falling out while consuming flax: read the comments section on this page
http://www.baldingblog.com/2006/04/14/flax-seed-oil-and-hair-loss/
this COULD be the shedding phase which people get during propecia.
also i listed a patent regarding these acids for use in baldness and hair retardatio on hairlosshe.

Yes, but only in the form of various mono-, di-, and triglycerides; the fatty acids have to be in their “free” (unesterified) form, to inhibit 5a-reductase. That’s why the natural oils don’t work for that specific purpose.

I don’t have any opinion on them. Sorry.

There are several published studies, usually posted by michael on another forum, that claim essential oils’ do inhibit DHT.
Also, there’s a thread in HM section about hair follicle cycles…can you look at some of the posts there and comment on what you think?
