Update Nizoral

#1

Ok its a week later, or so since my last update for using the 2 percent cream nightly after shower

this one is not that good

I have noticed no improvement and possibly a slight deterioration since last week
might try staying off it for a week

this stuff is powerful and perhaps not best used daily, even though the japanese study said they used it daily

the shampoo says to only use it three times a week,
and that is only left on the head for 4 minutes maybe

leaving the cream on overnight , especially daily, may be overkill

im stopping it for a week to see what happens, perhaps daily is indeed too much for your body

My advice, is to go slowly at most once every three days to see what happens

hangin,

Did you ever think about putting it on for few hours before your shower? Maybe the all night thing is too much.

Just checked with a mirror and noticed something encouraging

at the back of my crown, there is an area of hair that is the back rim of the crown, the crown of course has no hair, but there is a ring of hair where the crown was attempting to recede further down the back of my head…

This hair has maintained and it not heading towards a NW7 type waaaaaaaaaaay down the back of the head, however the hair in where the hair meets the bald spot on the crown, well, for the first several inches in that area below the crown, I noticed on my photos last year that this hair is not normal, it is about half gone and depending on the way it is combed can look anywhere from normal to very thinning

So I have been applying the nizoral cream to that area of hair also, BELOW the bald spot on the crown, and down back towards the nape of my neck

I just checked in the mirror and , lo and behold there is a TON of short about half inch long DARK hairs shooting up from that area, these are not peach fuzz, they are terminal hairs…they are not on the crown, they are coming from the area that is already about half covered by hair, below the spot on the crown

Looks funny to see it but as I said before, the THINNING areas I thought would be the first to respond

It gives me hope , in that it tells me that my body is very capable of responding to this nizoral, also it has only been a short time so , That lifts my spirts considerably to see that short tuft of DARK hairs back there

maybe some day that will happen with the hair on the top front too

There are 3 factors to encourage growth topically:

  1. Frequency of application
  2. Amount of topical applied
  3. Massaging the topical

Frequency meaning daily?

massaging? is this somewhat similar to putting it on after shower, better penetration?

It means how many times a day or times a week. This can be ascertained by your own reaction to the product. If the topical feels harsh use less of it and less frequency throughout the day or alternate days of use.

Yes thats the idea - better penetration via massaging.
And always wash your hands after applying a topical as you dont want it to be absorbed via that route.

that makes no sense, if its absorbed into your system through the skin, it will do that via the scalp also, i would think, and massaging would even enhance this

and then to wash the hands as if this will prevent systemic absorbtion or something

then again what do i know

I think the idea is to keep as little of the stuff, for the shortest period of time on your hands as possible after application.

I know but if you are trying to keep it off your skin, which is what that implies, heck i have it , my nizoral cream, on a big old area of my scalp, for 10 hours a day at least

if it was that dangerous to leave it on the skin, that you have to wash your hands immediately, I dont think it would be wise to leave it on your head either

Probably so you don’t accidentally ingest it orally, ie. eating after applying it, or transfer it to others by touch.

The cream is for skin conditions like dermatitis. It’s meant to be applied to the skin and left on.

now that makes sense

I’ve aready said that IMO massaging is not such a good idea. You lose much product because once again, there’s no reason why the product should like the skin of your scalp better than the one of your fingers. Plus a higher evaporation rate due to the movement. So, two solutions:

  1. massage with the palm of your hands over the remaining hair you’ll have stretched over the area as a buffer.
  2. opt for scalp exercices whose function and result are the same as massaging: enhance blood flow.

brm:

What kind of scalp exercises have you tried or would recommend?

Thanks,

Alongside a good topical regime - scalp exercises make perfect sense.

Anyone know of a good protocol to follow?

Sorry Jtelecom for answering so late. I visited this Tom guy’s site 2 years ago and practised the common exercise for a year or so. I just contracted the muscles located in the occipital area of the scalp that get the scalp to move up and back in the same time from the standard position. Some people find this difficult but that was easy to me. I confessed I got a little fed up with this 15mn daily training. Now, after applying my essential oils but before applying my active topicals, I use a glass splinter (a dropper whose end I broke up, in fact) both prickly and blunt enough to stimulate the bloodflow all over the scalp and not make any hole in it the way the dermaroller was accused to make. 2 or 3 mn of this stimulation (just pricking repeatedly) morning and evening. Then minox. And then scalp exercise a bit if you wish.

That is interesting about the glass splinter. Do you feel that it is helping?

yes I do. Something is very surprising. last year I shed 200 hairs a day for 3 months. I upgraded my finasteride intake from 2.5 to 3.5 mg and stepped from Norwood2.5 to Norwood1.5. No surprise. But I went back to 2.5mg. One month later my daily hairloss came from 80 hairs to 110 then slowly pacing up to 130, then 140 from last march. E versince, this figure has been hovering between 130 and 200. 6 months on! And my hair doesn’t seem to really thin out. I may be at Norwood2 but I would definitely say that I’m in a better condition than 15 months ago before the first shed. And my hair has become curly and looks quite great. I think that prickling my scalp this way with the help of essential oils helps my hair get thicker though I am quite sure as well that upgrading my minox to 15% twice a day has been of some advantage as well. vegetal oils on my scalpprior to washing (coconut, amla, castor oils) gives great looking hair as well. However I am stilltrying toadres the hairloss problem and plan to begin revivogen soon. But more of this in a specific thread I’ll start about my personal conclusions on melatonin OOH and nizoral shampoo OTH.
