Transplant or Wait?

Started thinning at 16 years old. That was 27 years ago. And BIG hair was very fashionable. Got a bad hair weave at 19 that lasted a week. Hair was very thin through my early twenties but I covered it up with thickening shampoo and mane spray. 1986 I began on minoxidil; sort of trialing the drug before release. Vellus hair and nothing else. But by 1990, it was so thin it became difficult to cover up. January 1991, I got myself a hair system; sort of like a British version of Hair Club. At this time, the hair ‘salon’ started shaving my head to attach this monstrosity with glue.
The hair system improved in 1996, with the fitting and three monthly replacement of a lace system. It still sucked because hair that isn’t growing from your head is very difficult to KEEP looking real. After a week of wear it looked like crap. I persevered until 2003 when I removed it and shaved the sides too. By that time, all the follicles on the top of my head had died. I’m having particular difficulty reviving the ones at the side above my NW7 hair border. This is where that glue crap was.
Sorry about the life story but I suppose you could say I’ve been fully bald for 16 or 17 years.
I’m lucky that I have a good-shaped head and the bald look suits me. But I yearn for a hair shadow over the top of my scalp. And maybe 5mm of hair.

most of you dumb asses are delusional enough to think it will be here soon, or else why are you guys posting 200 times a day saying you called so and so company and emailed so and so company, eagerly waiting for them to respond?

most of you are dumb enough to cling to any rumor and think its a new breakthrough

99 percent of the guys on the HM board have zero success with any regimen and are much balder than other posters on other boards…they are not bright enough to figure out how to even maintain the hair they have, much less regrow any

no wonder you guys are so sensitive and fragile

» » was the scalp bleeding?

» Why in the world do you care?

» You haven’t a clue what we are even talking about

you havent a clue of what you are talking about either…you follow some dumb company that has only tested abrading the skin on dogs or rats. and you get all excited pee your pants and start sand papering your head

and you call me nuts.

if you have been bald that long I would not hold my breath for HM or anything else to save you

why spend time worrying about it

i was making a comparison. of …what is the likelihood that the research will pan out given that NOTHING has ever succeeded in producing cosmetically pleasing consistent results with HM of any type of form

i do not care if it is getting cells to reproduce hair, or derabraiding the scalp, nothing in any shape or form has ever produced anything that works…

I know but this doesn’t reduce the chance that could happen… I think you can’t compare the HM chance to hit the market, to the lottery, that’s all

Hangin, go away.

Sometimes you’re contributing around here. But other times you’re basically what amounts to an anti-HM spammer, just without a specific product to push.

You’ve demonstrated plenty of willingness in the past to resort to just clogging whole threads to a standstill for no good reason when you’re disagreed with enough.

I don’t care that you need attention and stimulation via conflict. I do not come here to serve your boredom and psychological needs.

simple solution, dont click on my posts

i cant ruin threads, as you guys claim, if everyone ignores my posts

problem is you guys respond to my posts, then cry about me clogging the thread

I guess the real question is: what’s the intent behind your comments?

If you want us to ignore your posts than that would be an admission your posts have no worth. If you want to warn us about the pitfalls and uncertainties of research than you’re merely regurgitating the very definition of “research”. If you want to have an adult debate than there’s no need to call people names. If you’re looking for entertainment than off topic is a good place to start. There are less stressful ways to get your point across.

.

Good point. I don’t believe in holding my breath. I guess you could say ‘I’m hangin in there’. But I’m getting results and I have faith in the procedure.

That’s a cop-out. What I said is the truth. It should be you who backs off this stuff.

  • If you’re trying to make a valid and substantive point - despite resistance - than you should continue.
  • If you’re repeating the same point over and over and over again than its time to cut back a little
  • If you’re systematically discounting research despite positive proof than you should rethink your stance
  • If you’re using this forum as a personal playground than you need to find a new place to play.

Hanging you’ve been here a long time, and you’re an adult. You know which of the above criteria applies to you.

rev is my buddy now, he keeps me in line

Not wanting to be disparaging to Baccy (I actually admire his guts in trying this) but please be careful.

With Follica they are dermabrading the scalp, so that the worst that can happen is zero growth, but a younger-looking scalp with perhaps some fibrosis/ scar tissue gone.

By using various acids and sanding paper (!?) you are risking scarring up your head if it doesn’t work. It’s like someone seeing a chemical peel on TV than covering their face in battery acid. It might “rejuvenate” your face or it might melt it off.

Similarly if dermabrasion was directly comparable to sanding, wouldn’t wrinkly people be doing it at home and saving money that way?

I suspect a home version either 1) Won’t do enough damage (ever see someone a week after a chemical peel? Eeeeuurrgghh). or 2) It will do too much and you’ll be f***ed.

Baccy’s an adult so I won’t ask him to stop, but be careful, mate.

I hear ya m8 but believe me, my scalp healed in 2 weeks like nothing had ever happened to it. A friend of mine who I told about my experiment couldn’t believe it when he checked my scalp. He expected to find it in a real mess. But it gave me beautiful fresh skin and definitely some follicle activity.
