Hair growth promotion:
Mesenchymal stem cell derived GF/CK cocktail has also been implicated for stimulating hair growth during particular phases of hair growth cycle. The hair follicles constantly undergo tightly regulated and intrinsic hair growth cycle that is divided into growth (anagen), transition (catagen) and quiescence (telogen) phases. Stem cell derived products that can - stimulate hair growth by inducing and/or elongating anagen phase and delaying anagen to telogen transition are a very active field of research & product development. Stempeutics BMMSC-CM contains hair growth promoting factors like PDGF, VEGF, Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), M-CSF etc., thereby suggesting that BMMSC-CM could be formulated appropriately to develop hair growth promoting products.
Preliminary preclinical findings using Stempeutics BMMSC-CM showed significant hair growth promoting activity in both C57BL/6 & Swiss Albino mice, within a few days of treatment. Currently, we are in the process of reconfirming the findings in a validated animal model for both topical and subcutaneous applications and to move ahead to develop a proprietary formulation for efficacious hair growth. Stempeutics is planning to launch this product in mid-2014.
