Shedding from Nanominox - will hair grow back?

Hi,
I´ve been using minoxidil products for many years (rogaine, dnc, promox) along with propecia and ketoconazole-shampoo, and have never been troubled by shedding. A month ago, however, I started using a product called Nanominox-FMS (high strength minoxidil with finasteride, ketoconazole and some other ingredients) along with promox 15% minoxidil lotion. For three weeks, I have now seen one of my temples gradually diminish from a severe shed, which is mainly taking place in an area below the MPB area. I have now stopped using the Nanominox, and my question for you is: will the hair lost grow back? It used to be thick and healthy in this area. I would very much appreciate an answer!

Long, healthy hairs that are shed will most certainly grow back. Remember, MPB is not a sudden process in which healthy hairs are lost and never grow back. MPB is progressive in that your new hairs, from cycle to cycle, grow thinner and weaker and shorter. You may just be responding to the higher dose minoxidil.

i had a very big shed from keto which is basically the ingredient in
nizoral cream,
my hair got VERY thin see through on top front
so i stopped using it after about 3 to 4 months, some say oh shed is good but i never experienced it before
this was more than a year ago, about 18 months

now my hair is thicker than ever before in that area, not sure why but sure glad it grew back, but i did discontinue using it

Thanks for your replies guys, I appreciate it. I´m totally off the nanominox fms now, would recommend the product to noone. I have one more question, though: how long do you think i´ll have to wait before I see some regrowth in the area that was hit by the shed? How long does the reproduction of a hair shaft take in a case like this? Just a rough approximation, a qualified guess?

I can’t believe you stopped. You were reacting because of the higher minox and excellent topicals you were using. I think people who don’t shed should worry as their progress will either be an extremely slow one or no reaction to the drugs at all.

Propecia alone causes shed
Minoxidil alone causes shed
ketoconazole shampoo alone causes shed

So when you combine these how can you NOT experience high amount of shed. But your results would have been great. And THIS is exactly why it is always recomended to wait 8 months to a year before deciding if it works for you or if it doesn’t. However, once you stop in the middle of the shed you wil regain your lost hairs.

You really think so? Well I could try half the dose in a smaller area then, an area with no hair in it. What do you think about that? It´s not like I´m not on a treatment right now; I´m using propecia, revita, tricomine, applepoly, promox 15% lotion, and dnc-l at night. The shedding didn´t hit my frontal area that hard (I guess this area was more tolerant, since I´ve been using the promox 15% there before, what do you say, does it sound likely?), perhaps I could use the nano there once a day? I won´t let the stuff touch my temples again, the shed there was terrible and unnecessary. I´m a NW1 with thick hair, and loosing it honestly made me feel like sh-t. Having people watching my temples in a conversation… Well you know. It didn´t feel like it was worth it.

If I were a norwood 1 I’d be using only fin and minoxidil. It is my opinion, because I am still trying verify my hypothesis about the following:

If you can sustain your hairloss, and you’re in your early stages, don’t directly go to the most powerful drugs and combinations, because regardless of what you use your body will eventualy learn to tolerate the drugs. It may be anywhere from 3yrs to 7 yrs (average). So once your body learns to tolerate them, and you’re using the most powerful stuff already, what wil you turn to then?

Most people that have been using finasteride were having succes for quite a few yrs. When their hairloss begun again they noticed fin was no longer working. They either increased the dose or turned to dutasteride.

It is only in my personal opinion that if you’re a norwood 1 and you can get good results from fin and minox alone, then stick to it. Nomatter what else you use in combination will not regrow your hair as you think to its natural state. Is it worth the money and sides effects? That’s up to you.

I’ve started dutasteride but rmember good results with finasteride a few yrs back (stopped due to laziness). I am now thinking about going back on fin and yrs later increasing to dutasteride.

Hope that helps.

And yes fin and minox mix will grow some hair back. That in combination with the thickening of hair power from minox should please you very well in atleast 10 months.

Thank you for your thougths, I think they make sense. I´ve been using minoxidil for 8 years and fin for 5 years now. Last year, noticing a gradual recession of my hairlaine towards NW2A, I got on the big three. Since then I have added some products, and have thus been able to lower my hairline to a decent looking NW1, which with the right hairstyle feels OK I guess. I have considered having a FUE, but since I don´t know whether it would be successful or not, I have chosen to upgrade my regime instead.

Not all sheds grow back, firstly, Many guys complain of sheds that never grow back, so how can you say its natural or its a good thing or why did you stop this drug if you were only shedding

secondly the body does not “adjust” to every treatment and stop working by those treatments

I have been on natural dht blockers since `1999, and I was already 20 yrs into my problem and my hair looks better now that It has in the last 20 yrs really,
the dht blockers have not slowed down at all, so it depends on the person

but to tell someone who is getting huge shedding, hey dont worry, How do you know the shed will grow back? what if it doesnt? then the sooner he stopped the drug the better
