Remox 3 - massive shedding - need advice!

Hi all,

I tried Remox 1 a few years ago but gave up after around 3 weeks due to massive shedding.

I have been using Rogaine Foam since Christmas and Spectral DNC for around 8 months before that. My hair continued to recede slowly but i never had any huge shedding.

Due to the lack of results, i ordered the new Remox 3 and have ben applying it for just a few days now, twice a day. Tonight, i washed & dried my hair as usual and brushed my hair when it dried. I only put the brush through the front/top ONCE and the brush was FULL of hair ! This has never happened before - well not since i tried Remox 1 anyway.

After around 18 months of continual minox use i really was hoping it wouldn’t happen like this again with Remox, but it has, big time.

So yet again, i am left with the $64,000 question. After 18 months of minox not working, is this a great sign that Remox IS working and is the perfect minox for me ? should i stick with it or are the ingredients causing a huge reaction and massive PERMANENT hairloss ??

I know that its supposed to be a great sign but i simply can’t risk permanent massive loss, especially at the front. So i’ve got the “shedding shits” yet again.

Is there ANYONE that has used Remox that has had huge shedding during the first few weeks only for it all to grow back really well ?

I could really do with some help here guys. Are there ANY REmox users around to help PLEASE ?

cheers, very distraught, Col.

Sorry col, I am no Remox user. But I’m replying to you as I comprehend your distress. All I can say is that in the recent past, improvements of my situation from very specific products have always been preceded by evident worsenings. Can you figure out how many hairs you shed a day? Figures up to 250 (all inclusive, terminal+ vellus) may be acceptable I think for a period of a month or even more. Anyway I don’t believe that a preliminary shed should last longer. I’d stick to the treatment for the time being until you may assess that your shed is decreasing in 3 or 4 weeks. But you need more opinions than only mine.

I would be very wary of products that cause shedding, especially massive shedding

i know they say this is normal but in my opinion it is not normal

the niz cream caused me shedding after two months and I am very hesitant to start back on it, i may use it on the crown where there is no hair anyway but the front top is still not recovered after i stopped using it
i would get off anything that caused you shedding

btw if you are not on a super hair vitamin and mineral you should be

Sorry to hear that.

My mind is focused in a different angle on hairloss totally to some of the things that you have used.

as i said before if you are not on a super hair vitamin and minerals
you need to be
will it regrow all your hair, of course not

will it help immensely in stopping shedding and overall health of your hair
you bet

i dont know why the board is so stubborn in this know it all attitude of, Oh i am taking mega men vitamins, or one a day, etc
its not good enough

if you are not on 2000mcg timed released biotin, you will be amazed at the diference it makes

The problem is that every treatment that brings follicles out of dormancy (which means every treatment that works) can cause loss-phase hair to shed early in a few persons. We know it is loss-phase hair shedding because the effect usually shows in the less than the 2-4 months that hair spends in the loss phase. Thus, the hair could not have been in the growth phase when treatment started.

Typically this shows as a wave of shedding beginning 3-6 weeks after starting treatment and lasting a month or so. The Rogaine package insert says it may show in as little as two weeks, but this is unusual. Typically it is observable in about 10-15% of persons on hair-growth stimulators. It tends to be associated with a good eventual result.

I was arguably the first person to see this effect of hair-regrowth agents over twenty years ago. It caused some concern until we figured out is is not only benign but a sign treatment is working. The hair was about to fall out anyway-- as follicles come out of dormancy and start to grow a new hair, loss phase hair may shed earlier than it normally would have.
