Question for Rick?

Rick,

I just read your post regarding your consult with Dr. Cole. I’m scheduled for surgery with Dr. Cole next month. I wanted to get your overall opinion on Dr. Cole and if you proceeding with having your surgery done with Dr. Cole?

Are you going with FUE or STRIP?

Thanks,

Mullet

Mullet,

I’ve been to Dr Cole once before, to kind of clean up the messes made by Bosley’s group and NHI. I have a high opinion of both the man and his work. In my consultation with him yesterday I told him the amount of money I could scrape together for the procedure, and he suggested that instead I have a much smaller session first and see if that satisfied me. If it didn’t I could come back for another later. In other words, he talked me out of giving him as much money as I had suggested I was prepared to. In an industry overrun with hacks and hucksters, it’s tough for guys who’ve had HTs not to be suspicious and cynical. Heck, I’m suspicious and cynical by nature! I trust Dr Cole.

And yes, I’ll be setting up a procedure (probably sometime in April).

Who was your doctor at NHI? Rassman or Bernstein? I heard Bernstein is supposed to be pretty good.

Neither, and it’s been so long I can’t remember his name. I think it started with an M. I think he placed the grafts pretty well (although they were minigrafts, which was the technology of the time). Where he did poorly was with my incision, so the scar was pretty bad. Dr Cole cut it out when he did my 1200 graft session, and it is much better now, although a little stretched in one section.

By the way, Mullet, I hope your procedure next month is FUE and not strip. I can’t stress strongly enough what a bad idea a strip is. Take it from a guy with the scars. I’ll be spending thousands over a few years to fill those scars in. When I did strip, it was the way hair transplants were done. Now, though, there is a much better option. FUE is the way to go, buddy.

Rick,

I’m getting a FUE Procedure done. I never considered STRIP. I didn’t want to deal with the additional pain/discomfort, stitches, scaring, etc…
