Oh, boy

Hey, everyone.

Mordecai here. I haven’t been here in a while, I’ve since moved and done all sorts of things. I watched a few months back as Intercytex is now supposedly not releasing any products for our usage, as well Aderans being completely quiet. (Didn’t that Helpme007 guy make predictions for big news in October 2007?) I see many, many new threads and they make very little sense to me as I’m reading them.

Can anyone give me a concise synopsis as to where to place hate and where to place indifference and where to place unconditional hope? Glad to see some familiar names.

Sincerely yours,
Mordecai

Well. Before people would bicker like children over hair multiplication technology (Aderans, and InterCytex)

Now they’re bickering like children over induced self-repair technology (Follica, Histogen, Acell, OroGen Plus, Autologel, etc…)

Lord knows what technology tomorrow will bring, but you can rest assured hairsite will be teaming with children eager to bicker about it…

Hi Morty,

It’s nice to see you back. It will be nicer when you don’t have to come back. At this point, most of us are waiting for the results of testing of a product called Acell. Many here say that it won’t work but it does show some true promise with reguards of developing an unlimited donor supply of hair. I’ve spoken with the people at Acell on several occassions and they’re fairly confident that it will do so but made no guarantees. Dr. Jones (and a few others) are testing the product at this point to see if it can provide tissue and hair regeneration of the removed donor tissue. We should know something in the next couple of months. At least it’s not five years away!

At this point, we are just trying to get the word out about this product. It’s just been released for human use about 1-2 weeks ago. We are hoping that several doctors try it to develop the best method to use it and are waiting for results from a few that are definately trying it.

We have developed a letter that we have sent to many of the top HT doctors in the field. This was sent out last week and a few doctors responded. Here is a copy of the letter that was sent out:

Dear Dr.(Doctor’s Name)

I am a prospective hair transplant patient currently researching all of the options available in the hair restoration market. I’ve been considering a transplant for several years and am amazed at the near perfect results that skilled surgeons such as you have been able to achieve. The only reason I have not proceeded with the surgery is the obvious limiting factor of available donor hair. Although several doctors in the field have incredible “artistic ability” in reproducing natural results, they are limited by the amount of donor hair that each patient has available. Due to this fact, HT doctors often times cannot truly provide the “full head of hair” that their patients desire. I believe that this is a reason why many people (myself included) choose not to have a hair transplant.

Recently, in researching hair restoration on a website called Hairsite, I’ve been informed of a company named Acell. This company has developed a product called an extracellular matrix that is amazing in it’s capabilities for regeneration. It has been used extensively in vet. medicine for wound care but has recently been released for human use. In previous cases (in vet medicine), the Acell material not only regenerated the skin tissue of a wounded animal but also REGENERATED THE HAIR in the wounded area. If this can be replicated in humans, it would solve the limiting factor of donor hair in regards to a hair transplant. That is, the doctor could perform a conventional hair transplant, apply the Acell extracellular matrix to the wound (rather than stitching it up) and allow the tissue AND HAIR to regenerate, thus providing a LIMITLESS DONOR SUPPLY. I have since had several conversations with Acell and they have informed me that they are confident that the extracellular matrix will be capable of doing this. If this does prove to be the case, hair transplant doctors will finally be able provide the full head of hair that their patients seek, thus opening a WHOLE NEW MARKET OF PROSPECTIVE PATIENTS.

The Acell extracellular matrix comes in a powder form as well as a sheet form. The powder form would most likely accomodate HT doctors performing a procedure utilizing FUE whereas the sheet form would be best for doctors performing strip surgery.

Here are some pictures of tissue regeneration (WITH HAIR):

What’s even more exciting is the fact that this product is already on the
market and shipments have been sent to several progressive hair transplant doctors. I believe that there is a need for more skilled doctors to bridge the gap between this technology and the hair transplant community. I hope you will play a vital role in doing so.

Sincerely,
Your Name

That is a well-written letter. But do you know the exact date of when one of these above hair transplant doctors will be testing out the Acell product on their patients? Have any of these doctors gotten back to you?

I didn’t send this letter out the original time…SPQR did. He received three responses.

One said that they keep in contact with Dr. Jones and will be watching for his results.

Another one just thanked him for the information and said that they were interested but offered no more info.

The third one said that he already received shipments of Acell…so I would assume he will be testing it shortly.

Sorry, but I don’t have any exact dates. Maybe one of the doctors have already began testing…it may take a couple months after applied before wh know anything anyways.

I’m going to resend this letter to the doctors this week…just in case they missed it the first time.

Take Care,
Bill

morty, i didnt make predictions for big news in octover 2007. you must have confused me with someone else. maybe you meant nathan?

I think he was talking about TheGame: Intercytex was going to declare great results, show pictures, and announce inhouse commercialization.

Bill!

It’s great to see you here again. After reading your other comment and seeing that you started using the name Willy, I read your other comments as well. I’m very, very impressed! I believe you to be the best participant this forum has ever had; that isn’t to belittle everybody else, but, my, you’ve contributed quite a bit! Apart from all of this, how have you been?

I looked at the videos and pictures of Acell, that is impressive! The process would involve using the product in the donor strip to recreate the hair follicles there, correct? This would make for an “unlimited” supply of hair, though it would require numerous visits. Is there a possibility of this process being done in the lab à la follicular neogenesis?

“It will be nicer when you don’t have to come back.”

Ha ha ha ha. How right you are, Bill.

Sincerely,
Mordecai

Hi Morty,

Yeah, I changed my name when David changed the forum. I’m far from the best participant here…but the compliment is nice. I’m just trying to connect Acell (which may improve results from a HT) to the HT community. I didn’t even originally find Acell…WESB did. I’ve just made alot of phone calls to the company and contacted many doctors about it.

As far as neogenesis…I’m not really sure. At this point, it is just starting to be tested for applications in the HT “world”. It may prove to be nothing or it may be the “holy grail” of providing unlimited donor hair…or anywhere in between. We shall find out relatively soon…at least it’s not “five years away”…LOL.

Other than that, things are fine on my end.

Take Care,
Bill
