follijinxed,
How are things going on the hair loss front? Is the spirulina helping? I have one more thing to suggest for you. Do not eat or drink anything with sugar in it. NOTHING! That means NO sweetened ice tea, sodas, breath mints, cookies, cakes, or candy bars. I would even watch high glycemic foods such as white rice and potatoes including french fries.

It seems to be helping. I still take it with fish oil, however. I think the pathway from which spirulina gets converted into EPA and DHA needs to be looked at. I dont think I’m converting as much as I should. I found that lowering my fish oil to half did a good job, otherwise I seemed to get a little bit of inflammation still when dropping it altogether.

I feel like I am losing less hair though. When I run my hands through my hair, I only lose 0-2, usually I would lose 2-4. My hair seems thicker too. Still not regrowing on my bald temples though. I try to take the spirulina between meals but it is tough to do. I try to take 5000mg 3x a day. Makes my urine kinda stink, but other than that it’s fine.

I have long since found that by cutting down on processed sugars that my hair improves. I used to be a coca cola addict and ever since I cut back, my hair has improved since before starting the fish oil. I was on the South Beach Diet a few months ago and I’m sure it helped but man is it hard to follow. I did lose 10 lbs on it though. Now, when I have a small coke, 15 minutes later, I can feel my scalp start to itch. I am thinking about
adding in some Benfotiamine (courtesy ImmortalHair) and taking it with a meal or after I have a coke.

I am pretty content with my progress in halting my hairLOSS, but regrowth is still frustrating. I’m leaning more and more towards Dr. Armani.

If you are serious about it, don’t eat or drink anything sweetened. I am pretty sure that is the major cause of my hair loss. I think sugar and high fructose corn syrup stimulates 5ar. I challenge you for a week or so to avoid anything sweetened and see how your results look.

I did this for 2 weeks a few months ago. No sugar of any kind. After day 2, I almost killed myself from withdrawls. No carbs, no nothing. I think it will definitely help hair, but life isn’t worth living if you gotta do it like that.

However, I don’t know if it is to do with 5ar in particular.

I am not saying to avoid carbs. You need some carbs for energy. Going cold turkey like that is just a waste of time and you usually regret it. Just stay away from the bad carbs such as french fries. I usually eat multi-grain bread for carbs. Get your carbs from complex carbohydrates.

follijinxed, can you list all the supps you are taking? Is this an updated list?

Yeah, you can start eating carbs again on the south beach diet after a week or two. All I’m saying is that it is hard, very hard. I have cut back on soda and this has helped immensely. But yeah, avoiding processed food is just good in general (especially high fructose corn syrup, even Gatorade has it!) and I think the theories floating around about insulin have something to them.

I’m also convinced at this point, however, that only a topical will regrow my temples. I think Spectral DNC was starting to but I value my heart more than hair. I may try to mix my own at some point.

The list is all up to date except change Salmon Oil to Fish Oil. For some reason I feel like fish oil works better than just the salmon, maybe I am imagining things though. I get a little less irritation on the scalp when it comes occasionally.

I’m looking into one or two other things but I haven’t taken them yet.

follijinxed - Thanks for your reply!

Just to clarify, are you taking the 2g of fish oil (NSI Mega EFA?) and the NSI Black Currant Oil in one dose w/food in the morning? Or is it spread out through the day?

Also is it necessary to take a pro-biotic with these oils? If so is there a good stabilized pro-biotic that i can travel with?

refnied sugar is ok for your hair but , in excess it causes excess sebum on the scalp and itching
the main reason its bad for hair is it uses us a LOT of B vitamins during digestion, thus depleting your B vittamins biotin etc that are needed for your hair
This can be mitigated with a super Hair vitamin Like Maxi Hair , but the less sugar you eat the better for your hair, but this also includes refined carbs white flower products white rice etc…those are quickly turned to sugar in your bloodstream,

I think i know the answer to this already, but i chew a massive amount of Trident sugarless gum a day. Besides being unhealthy how detrimental are chemical sweeteners like sorbitol, manitol, and aspartame? Are they similar to refined sugars?

I’ve been on the low glycemic bandwagon for a while. What a way to improve life.

Contrary to what retard Hangin might lead you to believe, refined sugar is not ok for you hair. Do not eat any. Here is a general rule of thumb. If it tastes sweet, do not eat it. It probably won’t hurt to have a little fruit.

I eat it all the time my hair looks great, because i take the maxi hair to counteract the B vitamin loss

before i added dht blockers though, the sugar had a more noticeable negative effect
now unless i eat a whole cake or something it has not much effect
dont listen to hogan he is not a nutritionist, eating zero sugar is bullcrap…pure and simple
