Just Started Generic Avodart (Dutasteride) 2.5mg Daily

#61

I last used minox over 3yrs ago for about a 1yr to 1 1/2 yr. But I did since then go back on and off (for about 2-4 max) and couldnt stand the mess although I kept trying.

When I first started minox I had a shed I believe between the 2nd and 4th (dont remember exactly) week and stopped. But remember, I was using 4ml of 5% twice a day. And in the begining was taking finasteride with it.

Results of thickness and stop of hairs falling out now begins in a matter of days when I use it. People’s timing and results vary.

If you can put up with the mess I would STRONGLY recomend it in combination with dut. It’s the best undisputed combo in my opinion.

On side note, I have stopped dut for a few days now due to my upcoming fue hair transplant. The shed as of yesterday in the shower is horrible. Can’t wait to get back on, and when I do it will be as follows:

Dut 0.5mg daily
5% minox 2x/daily of 3-4ml
Gingko Biloba
B complex
Biotin
Saw Palmetto
Multi-Vitamins
Vasodiolator (Nitrix by BSN)
Nizoral Shampoo

My results in conjuction to my hair transplant, will be absolutely phenominal 1 yr post op and I really can’t wait.

» Mj, when you were last using minox when did you see results? Could you also
» describe the shed if any occurred. Thanks so much. I think I might add it
» to dut and record my progress.

Quick Update:

We never know the value of something until it’s gone. These days since I’ve been off dut my hair is left covering my pillow every morning and practicaly clogs the drain when i shower. i had no idea dut kicked in in the little time frame i took it. again, i just cannot wait to get back on it after my ht in march.

How bad is my crown and what are the chances of bringing it back to life? All bets are in…

Here is a shot of my crown at it’s current state.

I will be using the following regime for to return my crown to its throne (natural full state). Please note that I am a really good responder to hair loss treatments especially minoxidil. I dont recall side effects from over a yr usage from fin long ago as well.

Dutasteride - 2.5 mg daily first 8 months, drop to 0.5mg daily

Minoxidil 5% - 1x Mornings Daily

Xandrox 15% Plus - 1x Nightls Daily

Nizoral Shampoo 2% - 3x weekly / or EOD

Saw Palmetto - 320mg Daily

MSM - 7,000 mg Daily

Fish Omega 3 Oil - 1000 2x Daily

Vitamin B Complex

Biotin

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginseng

Tongkat Ali

I also workout 6-7 times per week 2-3 hrs per day along with aerobics every other day so some of the above noted are also needed for my personal gym routine as well. I don’t think it would be necessary to list to supplements I take for the gym as they’re pretty much irrelevent but I will do so just for the curious mind…

NoXpode

Nitrix - (A vasodiolator. It increases the diameter of your veins to allow nutrients to pass throughoutt he body and travel at a faster rate in the blood. Taken in conjuction with Ginkgo Biloba cause miracles. Have heard these two alone helped in hairloss)

250 grams of protein daily
Live a Healthy Life style but rarely sleep.

Mj, keep up the work! Those results are truly amazing for only one month. You’re doing what you need to do and the effort is finally paying off. Good luck in the coming months! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks bud, but I should have been more clearer in my post. I wrote in a rush out of excitement.
The pics you see are the original pics I posted and took when starting my regime 6 weeks ago. I will take new pics to show the difference of the 6 weeks as soon as I can get my hands that camera again. I hope that my progress will be enough to convince someone not to go for a hairtransplant until they’ve tried what they can with meds first (minimum 1 yr of patience required).

Believe it or not when I wento to a hair transplant surgeon named dr alvi armani and requested for a transplant in my crown, he out rightly refused and said to go on hairloss meds first - I did - and keep forgetting in thanking him for not preying on my naiveness. I’m at 6 weeks and my entire family and friends r noticing my crown had filled it. Imagine the coverage at 1 yr mark.

If you look at the time when I first posted those pics I was very skeptical of too much thickening or regrowth because it had shed pretty badly.

#69

Mj, were you ever able to take any after photos?

#70

yes i have the 6 week post-starting of the treatments. i’ll upload them tonight

» Mj, were you ever able to take any after photos?

Any feedback, positive and negative, are welcome. I’d like to comments on these. The results in MY OPINION for 6 weeks are phenominal. I also want to indicate that I take dut like 1x to 2x a week and have not touched minox for about 3 weeks now, and my crown still continues to fill in and I have no clue why.

Photos just before starting my hairloss treatments regime

Photos approximately 6 weeks after starting my regime.

#73

hairsite I have trouble getting the photos properly oranged. They looked mixed up. Would you please help me in arranging them so that the new photos (short hair, smaller pics) are on the bottom and not side by side the old photos? thanks.

It’s ironic how most of us always ask for pics of those who are on treatments, especially dutasteride, so that we can see visual results for ourselves, but take for granted when someone goes through the trouble of posting their results and and updates all the time. I cannot believe not a single comment. Good or bad would have sufficed.

I was doing this for anyone who was curious about dut’s (and other treatments) results. I’ve diligently posted updates and finally posted photos of before and after treatment. This was a lot of time and effort put into it. To top it off, these results, regardless of what they are, are only 6 weeks into my treatment! If that’s not enough to comment on then I dont know what will be.

I will continue my dutasteride and other treatments but will no longer be posting updates or pictures anymore.

And Hairsite, thanks for nothing for not helping me sort out my pictures as requested on previous post.

Good Luck to All!

Mj, I cannot thank you enough for the time you have spent putting together these pictures and results!! Although I may not have commented too often, I have closely payed attention to your observations from dut since I have been taking a 1.0mg dosage for seven months now. For those pics being taken only after six weeks, I think you may have your problem solved. :stuck_out_tongue: Any other changes to your regime in the future you might try out??

#76

It’s because this forum has been pretty dead for a long time. Not sure of the reasons why. If you wanted a lot of commentary on your photos, you should have posted back two or three years ago, when there was a LOT more activity going on here.

Ahhhh…the good ol’ days, when such supremely oddball characters as “Common Sense” were plying their trade here!

#77

lol almost wish i starting going bald 2-3 yrs earlier then. i guess the “common sense” trade has become extinct. i just remember when i wanted to use dut or other treatments i really wished someone did what i did with the close eye updates with photos, so i did it for those who’re in my shoes.

oh well, i guess they’ll have to find out for themselves =)

Dave, other than MAYBE increasing my dut from 0.5mg 2x per week (approx) usage in the future, I don’t see any changes to my regime as of yet.
I’m “thinking” of starting minoxidil again-not sure of that either. Want to see how dut alone will turn out 8-10 months from now as is.

Conclusion: Beyond impressed with dut’s performance on my crown. I sincerely thank people like Bryan for always answering my questions on dut and others like cal and benji as well. If it weren’t for them and their postings I’d be using dut every single day, but decided to use the minimal dosage instead to see how it works.

My whole goal was to transplant the front and maintain the rest (and bring back some hair) with meds, and I’ve accomplished that.

I guess there is improvement but I wish your AFTER pics were better, the before pics were loud and clear but after pics are kind of hard to tell how much improvement you really have.

You’re only taking it two times a week? Also, how long before you began to see improvement on it?

i know dutas has long half life, but he said he is only taking 1-2 times per week which i find hard to believe, may be he meant 1-2 times per day???
