This is the 2nd time I tried to wean off Propecia and it was tragic like the 1st time, I must have lost 50% of my hair over 2-3 months, I was hoping that the topical stuff alone would help me keep my hair, that was a big mistake. This is a carbon copy of what happened the first time when I tried to quit Propecia, the first 2 months were fine, no major shed, it gave me false hope that I really didn’t need the drug, boy was I wrong, the big shed came about 2 months after I stopped Propecia, for a moment I thought it would never end, it lasted about 3 months until I finally decided to get back on Propecia.
Propecia never gave me much regrowth but one thing for sure it helps me keep my hair.
It was a good lesson. I hope they will come up with something effective soon so that none of us has to rely on these medications for life.
unfortunately most people do not understand that for propecia, success means keeping the hair you have rather than re-growing the hair you’ve lost.
most think its the latter that’s going to happen. after 2 yrs on the drug, they realise they have the same amount of hair as they did when they started and conclude it ‘does not work’.
they go off the drug and end up going bald.
In my opinion, if you are not blocking DHT, you WILL go bald.
» thanks for sharing that.

NOT true. Propecia or Avodart will grow new hair. Primarily on the crown…

i doubt it grows new anything. it just revives follicles on the verge of death.
propecia & avodart’s strength is in helping you hang onto your hair as much as possible till a cure comes out.
but people keep expecting to get back their hair which they’ve lost and return to norwood 2 and are disappointed when that does not happen. then comes the claim that ‘it does not work’.
