Old business adage: a badly planned project takes four times longer than expected. A well planned one only takes twice as long. End of 2008 is unrealistic. End 2010 is more likely. At least we know we will have a working procedure by then but I still think first generation HM will be expensive.

In theory we can already have a procedure for illimitated hairs… I speak about the in vitro coltivation that ICX had patented one month ago. Why nobody know nothing about it?

A patent does not mean it’s fully developed and tested yet.

Yes, but in the protocol in the page about the technique you can read this:
Surprisingly, we have found that a partially formed follicle structure (proto-hair) generated in vitro will also develop into a mature hair when transplanted
So it means that they have try, and the study works.

I think that will be good if people start to ask to intercytex info about this…
but the situation seems to be different: everybody have in mind the “myth” of HM, but nobody know when can have this… is like a dream, an hope. Maybe we can have a nice solution before the HM, but people not see this because is waiting for the dream… and i think that is bad, maybe a solution is already here but nobody see this because is waiting else…

you’d rather say :

End 2008 is a joke. End 2010 is unrealistic. End 2012 is more likely.

I would be curious to know how many on this board have stabilized their hair loss and balding , and what percentage their hair looks the same, worse or better than it did 5 yrs ago

HanginInThere I myself have not had any major loss over the last 5 years.I’ve lost it gradually over 26 years.I’m now a very thin NW3 - 4.No bald patch at back yet,but quite a bit of loss at the front.

It only really started bothering me 18 months ago.I’ve been on propecia since.I have had a slight regrowth at front, not much really, and I’m not to sure about back.I now shave it down with balding clippers,so I think that may make it look more - really not sure.

I fell out with my Dad four years ago.I had not seen him since.I bumped into him Satuerday just gone.Last time I seen him he had hair, thin, but hair,he’s now a NW5/6 - so long term I’m doomed. What do you think!

My Dads 68.I’m 43 years old!
