When Dr. Hasson evaluated this stage 6 patient, he determined his donor hair was sufficient enough to provide reasonably good coverage to the considerable amount of balding scalp. It was explained that with this large area to cover in mind, this would be a two-stage process.
The first session would rebuild a new hairline, restore the frontal zone and mid scalp working to the front of the crown. This would provide a significant cosmetic benefit by reframing the face and therefore take many years off of his appearance. Dr Hasson and team accomplished this goal using 5474 grafts obtained using the FUT method of extraction. For stage 6’s or 7’s on the Norwood scale who have a considerable amount of area to cover, FUT is usually the preferred method for it’s ability to provide a few more grafts in total over FUE.
A second procedure, if desired, would complete the coverage by restoring the crown. For the second procedure, it’s likely either an FUT or FUE option would be possible. You can see in these photos the hairline design suits the patient well and the predictable transformation is quite impressive.
