Hair Transplant Reversal 218 FUE 0-6 MONTHS

Our patient had a previous procedure else where back in 2003, about 800 grafts via Strip into his hair line, leaving an unnatural groupings of hair and making it hard to hide and style. It was mutually decided at this stage, partly due to his own wishes, and due to limitations in his donor to reverse, or remove the old grafts. Some were left on one side and this is for the future, dependent on the direction the patient wants to go, and below we have time line from Pre BHR to 6 months healing.

PRE BHR

POST OP REMOVAL 218 FUE

2 DAYS POST OP HEALING

2 WEEKS POST OP HEALING

2 MONTHS POST OP HEALING

3 MONTHS AND COMPARISON

4.5 MONTHS POST OP HEALING

6 MONTHS POST OP HEALING

Were the grafts used (re-cycled), and if so, where were they placed?

wonderful results, are you planning to try Acell for this kind of procedure or others hair procedure?
Thanks

The plugs, as usual in such cases, are when possible, re-situated into the donor scar from the previous surgery.

The patient is very happy with the healing and the growth into the scar will be seen at an upcoming consultation in March.

We do not use Acell and have no plans as far as I am aware. I do not believe it is approved in Europe for such application.

Actually this is smart to not experiment on patients. Very good!

If there is a willing patient, then nothing wrong with experimenting.

btw good job un-doing the hair transplant!

Nothing wrong until something goes wrong with the experimenting!! EG Scarring!

Let me get this straight, this guy had 800 grafts done in the past and out of the 800, 218 stood out as pluggy? that’s why Dr. Bisanga was doing FUE on the 218 problem grafts in order to remove them? This is not adding 218 FUE to camouflage the plugs.

Hi ipod,

He had the 800 grafts procedure a few years ago into his hair line, doubtful if 800 grew, anyway quite a few were looking unnatural and pluggy. At an initial consultation a few months before the plan was to actually remove more than 218 but on the day our patient wanted to leave a few on the right hand temple as they were not obvious. So, the intention was to get over the healing from this procedure and then assess later if we remove any more, no real time frame was decided on. No grafts were added to the hair line, only removed.

Hi SL,

In terms of helping the patient’s healing would you be able to share with us any medications/ointments/creams that were recommended to him to ensure or accelerate the healing process?

Thanks

Hi ak

Post op the patient will put hydrocortisone with added moisturisers for the first two weeks. Then they cease and are free to use aloe vera and also vitamin e oil. Apart from that to let the skin heal naturally is important.

Sure, forming worthless scar tissue is naturally and important for humans - that’s right. Because humans aren’t salamanders.

Why not more grafts are placed to merge in the previous grafts ,with our eradicating all??

Why not Only front hairline can be eradicated and replaced by repositioning the old grafts…and Beard grafts may be good option to hide the scar ,because of difference in characteristics of hairs on head and beard hairs…??

Pls show the scar pics…

Hi Nitesh,

We’ll see our patient in the next few weeks and hopefully take new pictures, hair line healing and scar growth.

The reason for not placing more grafts into the hair line to camouflage the old ones, a mixture of factors made the patient decide. After measuring his donor density, the potential for progressive hair loss, the fact he was “not in to hair anymore”, really made up his mind. His donor hair density was below average and if his hair loss progressed he would not have been able to treat in the way he would have wanted, so he took the decision to go “au natural”, maybe in the long term future dependent on how his loss progresses he may take a different view, maybe not, but priority for him was to have a natural hair line, and if that meant receded then fine, as long as it was natural looking.
