Food & Vitamins or?

Just wondering if some of the Natural, Supplement & Diet posters could be helpful on this one:

I am at this stage of my life (35), where I am planning to start a family, hence no Regaine, Propecia, Finasteride nor DHT blockers. Have to start treatments, so I cannot afford any medical mess-up.

Slightly thinning in 1/3 of top (frontal side) but seriously receeding on sides/front(NW2-3 A I guess), I would be OK if I can maintain it like that, great if I can see some regrowth, but really bad if it was worsening. Didn’t realised any thinning up to relatively recently (2-3 years), but receeding has been progressive for the last 7-8 years (up to ±2/3 years ago). I didn’t give a damn at the beginning, so did not take any medication - up to the day I “realised” it - I guess we all know what it means the 1st time we realise it in front of the mirror.

Hair receeding & thinning seems to have stabilised for the last 1/2 years for some reasons. At that time I started a “normal” vitamin complement, then a spoon of honey /day (which worked great against scalp itches for some reasons?), ginger body shop shampoo & the usual “5 a day”, and believe it or not, half a glass of red wine a day (ze french habit). I tried Nizoral shampoo, but was peeling like a snake and had to give it up.

Keeping in mind that I have to disregard any strong products (there are some obvious priorities in life… and I’ll obviously prefer to be dad and bald rather than the opposite), and I have to give up my glass of wine (if resveratrol makes any difference), any thoughts RE: diet and naturals that would prevent me to have to mortgage my house in a few years for HTs or pray for HM to be in the market in < 5 years?

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions,

LL.

Avoid foods with excess sugar high salt, and avoid too much animal protein

take a super hair vitamin, believe me i have tried so many individually, either Ultra Hair by natures plus, or Maxi Hair by Country Life are more effective than a handful of pills. also add a chelated multi mineral, Do not just take some multi mens vitamin and think it does the same thing, it doesnt, If it was not designed specifically for hair loss and hair, it is not nearly as effective. Maxi Hair is only like 7 bucks a month , so not bad at all
I think all my supplements cost me maybe 20 dollars a month

are you on any dht blocker drugs now, ie propecia etc. are u taking rogaine etc , any topicals

do you want to try natural dht blockers internals. those worked great for me
some guys do not respond to them

by the way there are a few loonies on the board, guy calling himself widowspeak, truthurts, etc, who will say diet and supplments do not work, do not listen to them, they know absolutely zero nothing about either one

I am not saying this regimen diet and supplements works on everyone, it does not. however a lot of guys respond very well to it, including myself, it works great for saving the hair you have left, which is more important than most guys admit. Now regrowth i got a lot in my thinning areas. bald areas are extremely difficult to get regrowth in, WITH ANY REGIMEN OR TOPICAL, so dont get your hopes up if you have bald areas

to me saving what i have now, is all i want, if i get more regrowth great, but i can get used to my hair the way it is, as long as i dont have to have less and less hair as every year passes, I am happy to maintain

what a total retard…

can you show me anyone following hogans regimen?

guess thats why you are too ashamed to post it in your signature…doesnt work too well eh?

All of my supporters have regrown their hair and have moved on with their lives. Not hangin(there) around some bulletin board. Unlike some who seek any attention that they can get from any stranger that is willing to flatter them. Get a life.

ROFLMAO good one
name the supporters who have regrown their hair? name One? so you mean your miracle hair growth regimen can regrow hair on guys and they are so happy they just leave the board? wow , that is impressive, even rogaine prop and other proven formulas cant do that. Are you planning to market this gold mine or keep it to yourself? seems a shame you are too selfish to share it with the rest of the poor bald souls on the board

truth is you have no successful regimen thats why you would not dare post it, lest some guys might actually try it and report back to the board their crappy results and further your embarrassment

Hi Hanging,

First of all, thanks for your time and advice!

» Avoid foods with excess sugar high salt, and avoid too much animal

I guess red meat is worst than e.g. chicken etc? Is there a “recommended limit”, e.g. 20 gr/day of animal protein?

That’s the problem really - I cannot take any of them, since we have planned to start a family, 1st thing I had to give up was Rogaine/propecia etc. (bad for sperm quality according to doctor)

Exactly the same for me, IF I could get a bit thicker. Hair’s really annoying when wet, looks like a freak. But then again, I have this priority=starting family. Hopefully by the time we’re “lucky & happy”, I’ll still have enough to regrow/maintain with DHT blockers.

Many thanks again, have a great day,

LL.

when looking into your lifestyle factors, concentrate on:

1)cholesterol
2)insulin
3)bloodpressure

my diet recommendations were critical before i added dht blockers, now they are much less important as far as my daily hair the way it looks, honestly i can pretty much eat what i want, red meat, sugar etc, as long as i maintain my regimen

before when i was not yet on dht blockers and only on vitamins,i would lose a ton of hair the next day if i ate red meat or too much sugar etc, my hair was very fragile…now that i am on good dht blockers that does not happen anymore, thank god, i was sick of that diet

wats your regimen now i forgot

But there are “men’s multiples” that have most if not all the ingreds you’re talking about. They won’t be as cheap.

And I still can’t believe you’re using that chelated mineral product when Swanson’s has theirs…with much less iron…and every once in awhile a 2 for 1 sale on the product.

i cant get that here in the phils manila, now im just using ultra hair, and beta sis. i buy everything here instead of shipping it, by the time i pay shipping and customs charges its not worth ordering it from the USA

my regimen seems to be maintaining, suprisingly, i take saw palmetto, GNC standardized when they have it in stock. but lately they are out of stock in the store i go to

i did not say i cant get it shipped internationally, i said by the time i pay for shipping, and pay for customs import duties and taxes, it is not worth it to me to order internationally, its the same to buy it here, even at much higher list prices

and it pisses me off so much to have to shell out 50 or 60 bucks in import duties on a shipment of vitamins, i would rather get it here…they even charge taxes here on the SHIPPING charge i paid FEDEX or whomever , the US post office etc…which to me is total horsecrap

it is a GREAT place to live…its just little irritations like this that change buying patterns

we have maids, a private driver, gardener etc working at our house, this would never be affordable in the USA, unless you are wealthy

Hi Hanging,

So far my regimen has been very limited by the fact that I cannot take any DHT blockers/inhibitors (fertility treatment).

I guess I will have the following “regimen” (based on your and Pete’s recommandations/regimen):

  • Maxi Hair vitamins (instead of “normal” vitamin supplement)
  • Topical (any suggestions?) and anti-inflammation shampoo (hair body ginger shampoo has been great for me, not perfect). I see that you are using nizoral cream. I tried the shampoo but was too strong for me, are you happy with the cream?
  • As soon as treatment finished, DHT-inhibitor (either DHT blockers AND saw palmetto, or fina).

Food regimen:

  • Honey spoon/day (I noticed a reduction of scalp irritations since starting it)
  • Animal protein intake reduced, more oily fish
  • Seeds (in particular pumpkin seeds - just read another thread discussing it).
  • 5 a day.

  • and finally the easiest one… 1/2 glass of red wine a day (resveratrol)

What do you think?

Thanks again, have a good day,

LL.

I really havent been diligent enough with it as I have alot going on.
I think it is a very good topical - but it needs to be stronger than it currenly is to regrow hair in MPB.

Anything that helps with the following with help thicken hair:

1)SOD
2)Inflammation
3)Bloodflow

Cholesterol friendly foods include Choline, B5
Foods high in potassium/minerals and reduce duretics

Where would you get Epilobium and what kind of topical anti-inflammatory?
