I got the same side effects when i was on avodart. That redness inflamed area your talking about is seborrheic dermatitis! It will continue to itch and burn and flake. Your skin will continue to get drier and you will probably end up quitting due to anti-aging(such as wrinkles). It will take at least a year or longer for the sides to completely go away, if they ever do.
This drug is BAD news.
