Dr. Woods - Donor Site after 2400 grafts

This is worth re-posting.

In this case, Dr. Woods removed the grafts in sections so that photos could be taken and clearly demonstrate healing rates, side by side, over a period of days. 4 consecutive procedures were performed over an approx. 10 cm2 area, removing 2,400 grafts.

You will see the following:

  1. The appearance of the donor site during actual surgery, and at 24 hours, 48 hours & 72 hours post op.

  2. At the 9 day mark, the scabs are almost completely gone except for a few. 3 photos were taken at increasing magnification.

  3. Finally, 3 photos showing overall result at 9 days at different magnifications.

The underlying principle is trauma minimiliztion. Adherence to this and 15 years of experience in developing this field led to The Woods Technique Declaration of Patient Rights. Removing follicles correctly, without transaction or peripheral damage is an incredibility difficult process requiring specific skills, precision, and uncompromising dedication. And once the process is complete, we believe the best thing to do, is to ‘leave it alone’. The same applies to the recipient area.

Whether it was countless billions of years of evolution, or the whim of GOD, one thing is always constant. Most creatures on earth, when cut, will bleed. The blood will clot and the miraculous healing process will commence. The blood that fills the cut area contains

  1. Chemotactic factors, i.e., hormones and chemicals allowing communication between the cut edges

  2. White blood cells, which mediate the immune response including fighting infections.

  3. Fibrocytes. These cells create the healing fabric, called Fibrin, which binds the cells together.

From DAY 1, we insisted that the natural blood clot and scab formation must not be interfered with. After 15 years and thousands of cases world wide we can state that, apart from normal ingrown hair inflammation, our significant infection and wound complication rate is ZERO.

We believe that nature’s mechanisms cannot be improved upon by a cocktail of chemicals mixed up in a vat and packaged into a medicine container.

What about Armani? You have pictures of their donor? Are they as clean as Dr. Woods?
