»
» You’re kidding, right? I know it’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it
» but here is my opinion.
»
» - Everyone sees your hair regardless of whether or not you are smiling.
»
» Btw, why call someone out on their teeth especially since it has nothing to
» do with the subject at hand? This guys spends a year documenting his
» experience with hair restoration and someone comments on his teeth??? It
» never ceases to amaze me how critical people can be.

people who shell out 10s of thousands on a HT, do it because why? they are extremely concerned with their appearance and what others think of how they look

teeth is a huge part of a persons appearance, some say more even than hair

so to say this has nothing to do with the subject at hand? is a bit of a stretch

Its like one of those personal makeover shows,
they critique shoes hair makeup, clothes style, you name it , it all goes into one big basket of personal appearance, how you look and appear to others

Sure, if I had one eye in the middle of my head and pink teeth and smell like a kipper, it would be a problem (damn, that does sound a bit like my brother). On the other hand, hair speaks of youth in the mind set of most and is very often the descriptive marker, “yeh, I know him, the bald guy”. Of cause I would rather be “the bald guy” than the “ugly short guy with big ears who smells” but each to their own and I will look better with hair, so where is the beef!

P,S, I do not have a brother, it was poetic license and I felt it to insulting to say “the girlfriend”

Wow - I get flamed for suggesting he get his teeth done?

Just like Hanginginthere said: if the guy is self conscious enough about his appearance, he would appreciate advice. I sure would.

By the way, most people don’t look or focus on other people’s hair. They look at the person, which includes the whole package.

If I saw an overweight smelly guy with really bad teeth, but with a great full head of hair, I would not be saying, “Wow - what a great head of hair.”

Also, who the hell says “the bald guy”??? maybe you need to stop hanging out at elementary school playgrounds…

is that they are 20 somethings

20s is the most superficial point in your life, you look your best physically, and losing your hair at this age devastates you and you cannot imagine finding a good mate to marry. For one thing girls this age are extremely superficial and naive when it comes to choosing men. They tend to dismiss guys from the good looking category as soon as they start thinning. This is the reason guys panic at this age and overreact also

as you get older as women get older , as many men the women have dated start thinning, as people get married divorced have a few kids, as women date pretty boys and realize that hair doesnt mean squat, as looks does not mean squat, they begin to realize as the men do, that there are about 100 things that go into good relationships that have nothing to do with looks

like

compatibility
similar drinking and smoking habits
is the person responsible
are they ambitious
do they share the same life goals
similar tastes in music
is the person a slob or clean
is the person selfish?
do they want kids

there are SO many things that enter the picture
Especially as men approach their 40s (i know this seems so far away that you cannot imagine it happening and you think oh gosh if I was that Old I would not care)
You still care sure about your hair, but so many men are thinning at that age that people start to not even care as much , even the women .

As I passed 40 sure I cared about my hair, but other people dont care NEAR as much as you think they do about your hair.

They in fact think you are weak if it bothers you a lot and will tease you about it. If you wear a toupee? forget about it, you are a loser in their eyes

Get a transplant? you better damn sure get one that is undetectable (hard to find) because I guarantee you other people would respect you 100 times more if you are naturally bald than if you go out and get a transplant and they know about it

You guys need to seriously think about what you are getting yourselves into before you shell out 10s of thousands of dollars and commit yourself to a lifetime of touchups and further procedures

Much better to be naturally bald, Hell look at Steve Jobs , do you think anyone gives a damn about his hair?

Its who you are , what you achieve in life. Not your hair. The sooner you come to that realization the better off you will be

Well I do not agree. There is a prejudice against bald people. Hell I am almost 46 and it does matter. My dad was 57 a successful business man in the who’s Who and He started wearing a wig at that age. Hair does matter & I am glad that we do have a few good doctors who can help. Being successful is one thing but one still has to face the mirror everyday and being bald is devastating at any age but of course much worse in ones late teens and 20’s. There is always that first impression and it really counts. I have seen bald guys that are smarter and more experienced that do not get the jobs that guys with hair do. I once asked a supervisor about this and she told me it was a company image that people with hair " Just look better". You bet your bank that yes hair does matter. Look at the name of this site. It should be called baldsite. lol.

If you think your dad wearing a wig helped him, more power to you
99 per cent of people can spot a wig a mile away, but are too kind to say anything to the wearer

90 percent of transplants will look like sh%t in 10 years and most of them are detectable from the start

people think you are much more of a loser if you wear a toupee or get a transplant
if you dont believe that you are in la la land

name me one hollywood celeb who wears a wig, who people dont snicker about it?
Even chuck norris looks like a complete idiot now with his toupee

shatner?
Elton john?
they all look ridiculous

you are basically chasing a dream with wigs and transplants

I did not say there is not a societal bias against balding guys I just said you make yourself even more of a target with a wig or a transplant
and I said as you get older people care WAY less about your hair

you are obviously one of those guys who spends more time in the mirror than his significant other

Hangin’,

Don’t waste your time trying to convince these guys otherwise - it’s a complete waste of time.

That fellow’s dad probably felt more confident wearing the wig and, maybe, got his mojo back. Clearly, it was not how others perceived his wig, which was most likely very detectable.

There are people that believe in UFOs, tooth fairies, and even “God.” let them keep believing… you can’t change their mind…

If people did not care about their hair there would be no hair replacement clinics and HT doctors. There are men in there 80s who have surgery and wear wigs. As for Elton John, Shatner and other hair wearers we do not know what they look like with out those wigs. My father looked younger than his brothers and as for people knowing well his first ones were bad but later some people when told were surprised. He did not care. His mojo was back and he looked awful bald. I told him when I was 6 to get hair as all of my friends fathers had hair. He did the next year (1972) & wore hair until he died in 1997. We loved him regardless. He obviously was not happy bald. I wore hair for 14 years and still have friends who do. It is not an easy way to live but I am glad I was able to get rid of it. But I was far more depressed without the wig. I did it to cover up the bad work. Nobody ever laughed at me although some told me after that they knew but said it never looked bad but the back was noticeable because it was a full cap wig. I will never have to go back to that Thank God. Live and let live. Remember this industry is a billion dollar a year industry. So I doubt it will do any good telling people not to have surgery or try meds. It is pointless on a site like this. Perhaps you should post on Bald is Beautiful. They are still lying to themselves but that site may be for you…

You are confusing me saying people dont care about hair
with people caring about THEIR OWN hair

i SAID …other people dont care NEARLY as much about YOUR hair as you think they do

You dont think I have been suffering for 30 years myself? I am not a newbie to this
my dad was bald and never wore a wig, he was a successful businessman millionaire by age 40 adored by all his family and friends

I am saying guys losing their hair are so obsessed (including myself in this group) that they think other people judge them way more harshly than is actually the case

tease us? sure
its funny to them if they have never lost their hair. Its not so funny when it happens to them

I am saying guys tend to overreact in their 20s, and I think jumping into a transplant is a huge mistake for many. If you are eventually going to be a NW 6 I dont care how good your doc is, you are going to look ridiculous, like Joe Biden some day

LOL, a very interesting topic, getting his teeth done is a good idea, a logical next step if he is serious about his appearance, it’s a no brainer, he will look 10x better getting his teeth done (not that he doesn’t look good already with his new hair), anyway I think both our teeth and our hair are important but if I have to choose, I would rather have a full head of hair and bad teeth than really good teeth but bald.

I agree it’s better to go bald than to have plugs all over your head, take this guy as an example, I think he will look good even if he shaves it all off, not everyone can pull that off but I think he can. Many people actually do look good without hair, it’s a gift.
