I dont understand, his hair is still really thin one year later. How many grafts did he have done in total at H and W? Dave was cool and the vid segments were done well but the hair is way too thin. Is he going back for more grafts? Best, J

Justin, sorry buddy but you’re missing the point of this video series entirely. It is video documentation like nothing done before. How many times have you read online someone asking what it is like one week after surgery, two months, etc. etc.?
If you were actually paying attention ( and not jumping from the first video to the last) you would see that he got 3350 grafts to camouflage the hairline, address the top and to give him a crown (albeit with light coverage). You cannot show me a result with the same # of grafts on a repair patient with plugs over the same amount of balding scalp that has better coverage. He could easily have gotten more in one pass but Dr Wong also removed most of his donor plug scarring with the donor strip that was removed thus “only” 3350 grafts were moved.
Don’t take this the wrong way Justin but I think that with your own case you haven’t the ability to see a solid improvement in guys that have real hair loss much less those that are in need of repair. Anything less than full density or the appearance of full density is not a complete success in your eyes and sadly, with this view point, you may be setting the bar too high for newbies seeking real solutions.
Next time I’m in LA I want to meet up with you and buy you a beer.
I like his new hair, a very age appropriate look for him, short n slightly thin all over, that’s a good look for him, he looks like a million bucks when he finished at the salon.

I have to agree with Jotronic on this one. The overall improvement is quite good and he is also right that a repair patient will ( And most likely) never get a full head of hair. If that is what you think can always happen you will see many disappointments in your eyes. One cannot expect this in all cases especially in people that have had their donor scarred and wasted & in the higher norwood scales. It is not reality.
…? Lol,Im just expressing my opininion. Id rather shave my head and save my money than have thin hair. Ask most woman and they will say that a buzzed haircut looks better than thin, combed over hair. Now if Dave is going for more work later, fine but if what you are showing is his final result,I wouldnt be satisfied. You can argue it,you can write paragraph on top of paragraph but it wont change the fact that some people DO NOT think thinly transplanted hair is all that great. Again,Im allowed to have my opinion and telling me I dont pay attention??? wont change anything. Best regards, Justin
And no Im not angry or anything =-) ,I never take part in bashing or other nonsense here at the Hairsite Forum. I understand what Jotronic is saying about the VAST level of documentation and YES these are good results for such few grafts but I would not be happy with such a thin look. Its what I feel and a lot of other guys feel the same way. Take care, J
Hair looks fine, A lot of us wish we had that much. Anyone who is critical
probably has more hair than him but anyone with less probably thinks as I do.
Those of you that do have more just wait, you’ll have the chance to change your opinion soon.
… okay fine,I think maybe I feel bad that I rained on the parade. I tend to write my responses TOO quick and when I do so,my opinions can seem gruff. Dave looked and sounds like a great guy. His hairline was not good before the H&W surgeries and the final results totally solved his problem. Very natural looking. Whether or not I like thin hair transplants should have been saved for another topic because the main theme of Jotronics post was the vast documentation of Dave’s case. All the best! J
Yes,Good point in the first part of what you just said Yellbird,I agree.

Would you be satisfied with Joe Bidens results? The reality you seem to miss is that a hair transplant is just that. You are redistributing hair to balding areas. How do you expect a thick head of hair from a person who is a norwood 6 or 7? The donor area is not there. I do not think you are in reality at all. I tried the shaved head look and HATED it! I think most patients would rather have a thin look than be bald. You should spend some time in offices that offer hair transplants and also go to a hair replacement center and spend a day there. You will see that many, many men simply can’t get a full head of hair. You will also see that not every person looks good with a shaved head. Also to note, have a look at older patients. Hair loss is a progressive thing so if a person like Dave in this video does not look good now to you imagine what he will look like in 5 or 10 years. What does one do if there is no more donor? This is why I feel doctors should look at alternative methods of donor hair. For me Beard hair saved me. My hair is thin but I am glad I am not bald. Been there done that. Not for me. I have friends that are in there 30s and also 70s. They are bald and have poor donor areas and no money for Hair Transplants. They realize the reality for them is bald or a Hairpiece. It is not a good road and I would never recommend this but they both refuse to be bald and wear hair. They are both norwood 7s. The point I am trying to make is that if in your eyes it is not a full head of hair then it is a failure. Well I have news for you. From working in the industry you will find very few results in person that you would like. That is the reality of this. I hope most people realize this. Hey I wished money grew on trees but it does not. Sometimes reality is just that.

Highly agreed upon.
Hi Diamond6,How are you? I understand your opinion. I am aware that HT results are never going to be very thick but lets not miss out on the fact that I AM 100% FOR HAIR TRANSPLANTS. Ive only been researching HT for over a decade. I know more than most guys whom have never had a HT or even been to a HT office.I was certain that I was going to get a transplant or three back around 5 years ago. I have seen MANY HT’s on the web that I thought were incredible. Mostly from H&W and Alvi Armani. They are two in my top three. Jotronic’s results are acceptable to me too. I know what the limits are. Im not bashing transplants,I just dont think VERY visibly THIN hair look good. Most people dont and woman can always spot real thin hair from a mile away. Ive discussed it with many woman.I wont wast any more space defending my opinion on this specific topic. Ill save it for all the people who want to comment on how cool, detailed, and well edited the video segments are. Jotronics hairloss journey was explored in rather good detail but Dave’s case is more streamlined and well put together. I hope H&W are considering using Dave’s journey and vid-clips at there website as well. Take care and all the best, J

I understand what you are saying. Being a bit older I really do not care as much about what others think as long as I am happy with myself. I lost all of my 20s and 30s in this world of awful hair transplants. Now I see gray hair coming in and oh well. I do think that certain woman would not mind thin hair. Remember woman do not care about hair as much as security. I know of several who are knockouts and with guys with thin hair but thick pocketbooks. They want security. As people age the looks thing also slowly goes downhill. One must keep in shape and do their best. As far as your favorite clinics well they are the most highly advertised and do nice photos. I hope you know that one you mentioned has been involved in several lawsuits. If you go by just what you read on the net then sadly you are missing out on several facts. Best regards: Diamond

Ditto. I only wish he had the stylish cut his hair in the video instead of the image stills. Oh well, next time:)
Many thanks for documenting and sharing your journey. Here are a few comments:
- You’ve got a very understanding wife that went along and recorded the journey.
- I didn’t like Dr. Wong saying you should get on Proscar soon after the surgery. Judging from your hairloss, it was close to NW6 and I wonder how Proscar would help in maintaining hair…
- You look way better with much shorter hair. Trust me on that.
- If you’ve got money, get your teeth capped. It will make even a bigger impact on your face.

I wasn’t even paying attention to his teeth till you mentioned that, is this a typical progression for guys who had hair transplants done? they moved on to fixing their teeth ? if you ask me, I don’t think it would make that big a difference fixing his teeth or not.
I agree he will look even better with shorter hair.
Something doesn’t sit well with me, in the first video he said the reason Hasson and Wong could do megasession is because they have many technicians dissecting the follicles. Call me crazy but i think megasession has more to do with scalp laxity and how the doctor extracts the donor, the # of technicians in the team is not all that relevant unless they are incompetent.

Straight and white teeth make the biggest impact to one’s appearance. Ever seen the show “Extreme Makeover?” It’s off the air now, but the premise of the show was to perform plethora of plastic surgery procedures to make the person look more attractive. If you’ve seen the show, you’ll realize that fixing teeth make the biggest impact.

You’re kidding, right? I know it’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it but here is my opinion.
- Everyone sees your hair regardless of whether or not you are smiling.
Btw, why call someone out on their teeth especially since it has nothing to do with the subject at hand? This guys spends a year documenting his experience with hair restoration and someone comments on his teeth??? It never ceases to amaze me how critical people can be.
