Bald = hairy?

Just out of curiosity about the effect of DHT, is back and shoulder hair mandatory for MPB or it’s just one lucky bonus some of us get with the shiny head?:ok:

I know I’m quite one hairy dude, I’ve always been more hairy than average (legs) since young, then when I started to go bald (twenties) my back and shoulders started to get hair. Same as all the men in my family.

Is there someone on this forum who’s bald but also NOT hairy on shoulders/back?

Absolutely untrue. You started to go bald as a TEENager (~13 years old) - you just didn’t noticed that. That’s no joke.

I have no body hair between my belt and neck whatsoever. I’m in mid 30s.

So no I don’t think amount of body hair has much to do with MPB. You can be a hairy fuc*k and have all hair or vice versa.

That is also correct…

Ok thanks for the info!

BTW, other than Hasselhoff and Brosnan, if I think of a hairy actor/celebrity they always happen to be bald (Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds), but I guess than it’s not mandatory to be hairy and bald, it’s just luck!

I wonder if there is a connection between increased body hair and the balding scalp. A switch that tells the follicles on the scalp to stop producing hair and start producing it in other areas of the body; facial, chest, etc. Doesn’t propecia reduce body hair? You reduce body hair and increase scalp hair. Its a slow work day as you can tell by my post

that is true… hairs minitarise 16 years old onwards, or when puberty kicks in…as you know differnet peoples puberty kicks in at differnet times but roughly the 16 year mark.

that’s very hard to believe.

I had so much hair my early twenies…it was out of this world.

Enough hair to make all of you a norwood 0. I would comb my hair to one side and you couldnt see my scalp. Sometimes I used to curse my hair (not joking) because it was so !@#*ING THICK and grew so @#!%in fast I had to give a super tip to the barber . I knew he had to clean the floor for like 4 hours too I maybe I should have payed him by the hour like 40 bucks. He used to tell me their clients knew I had a haircut that day just by looking at that floor “that kid was here again huh?”.

Oh, i couldn’t comb properly…not to mention my super awesome hairline was around 3.5 cm from my eyebrows which I proudly measured constantly before AGA “kicked in”. My barber used to say “Damn son you have awesome hair, so many people would die for your hair” and I said “you know it son” n we bumped fists…that was the last time I saw him…that last time he combed my hair backwards n i could see the hairline of a woman.

6 months later MPB kicked in and i went from a norwood 0 to a norwood 3 in less than a year…I don’t think my follicles went minituarization at least that I was aware of. I think somebody threw a nuclear bomb in my scalp but i saw one or two survivors…they probably cycled twice before dissapearing.

Needless to say never saw my barber again…but I bet he doesn’t miss me. But he has in image of me looking like this:

I dont buy this AGA starts in puberty bullcrap…my brother started to bald at 40…just like my dad.

I shed a tear writing this :crying: .

I had a body as hairy as the two guys in Iron Man’s photos, but when I went on DHT blockers (first Propecia, then Finasteride, now Avodart), I regrew some scalp hair but lost nearly all of my body hair (except for pubic hair).

After several years and despite being still on DHT blockers, some body hair regrew, but it is nothing like it was before I started taking DHT blockers.

Curiously, during the same period in which some of my body hair grew back, the hair on my head also thinned some more despite being on a DHT blocker.

I noticed it when I was thirteen and so did some of my classmates.

Hmmm . . . is the guy in the bottom photo wearing a hairpiece?

ok guys, now I’m confused.
I got from some answers that it’s not NECESSARY to be hairy when bald. But from some other answer it’s clear there’s a connection between the two “conditions”, meaning that those who experience both, experience both for the same reason.

I’m wondering if we are made like a cheap doll, where pulling the hair on the body will shorten the hair on the head. Would be cool if it worked the other way around too.

Oh BTW, another bald hairy dude is Mel Gibson.
Anybody knows what kind of work has he had done?

How old were you when you first lost your body hair, as a result of being on DHT Blockers?

i have not lost any body hair as a result of being on DHT blockers.

Nor beard hair either.

Some head hair i have lost however but at a MUCH slower pace than when i first started losing it.
