This was posted on HLH. I never heard if anyone tried to buy it. They were trying to get some vet to order it for them but the thread died.

I’m pretty sure it’s going to be released for human use in the fall. I spoke with someone in the company several months ago who seemed confident that it would regrow hair. The best approach would be to remove hair from the side (via strip or fue) to the top of the head as a conventional transplant and then apply the Acell material (or powder for fue) and allow it to heal. In theory it should regenerate the lost tissue (including the hair) virtually supplying a limitless donor supply. Of course, that’s only in theory until it is tried on humans for this purpose.

One person replied to one of my posts that he worked for a company that had a similar product that did not produce hair on humans. He does not think that Acell will work on humans…LETS HOPE HE IS WRONG!

we also know that they are testing it on some soldiers hurt in iraq, not sure in what capacity, i wish we could find out, i hope to use it on some scar revision work in my donot, minimize or even etadicate most of my donor scarring, thats my hope, maybe you can contact them again when you think it may be appropriate to see if things are on track for a fall release thanks willy

Did that company wound the scalp before applying the product? I highly doubt it will work at all without wounding.

Wily,
You also spoke to a few HT doc’s about using Acell, correct? If I remember correctly a couple replied saying that they would be open to experimenting with it if it was released for human usage. I take it, then, that that means even if someone were able to get the product from Canada now those doc’s wouldn’t be game for trying it out. What do you think?

I spoke (via e-mail) with Dr. Arvind and a rep from Hosson and Wong. These docs were definately interested in this product but won’t touch it until it’s released for human use. Hopefully they will still be interested when it is released for humans. When it is, we should e-mail as many doctors as we can to try to spark an interest in this product. I e-mailed about 20-30 docs about a year ago, but received only a few responses. Hopefully, when it’s released for humans the results will be different.

I will call Acell again to see if I can find out any more information. I have no relationship with them, they were fairly easy to reach and were willing to talk alot about their product. If you can get past the secretary, you can get some valuable information. I tried about a week ago, but only got an answering machine. I’ll try again this week.

Thanks for taking up the leadership on this Willy. Unlike with ICX or Follica, I think the Acell-HT combo is somewhere where regular people like us can actually make a difference. We’re not going to come up with the science behind the cure for baldness, but we can certainly bring knowledge of Acell to doctors (if they are unaware of it).

By the way, someone had posted this before. Acell’s website still says that it excpects products for humans to be released later this year:
