10 months post-op 1,000 FUE with Dr. Feller of Great Neck, NY

» Unfortunately it is true.
»
» The facts are I’ve seen the results of FUE from every “big name” FUE
» doctor and can assure you that their results are not as good as comparable
» strip procedures for procedures exceeding 500 grafts. Just look at the
» photos offered by FUE patients and strip patients on the internet through
» the years. No contest.
»
» Another fact is that FUE surgery is much harsher on the graft than strip
» surgery is. There are three destructive forces that act on the graft
» during FUE that hardly exist during strip surgery:
» 1. Torsion (Twisting of the graft at the top while the base is still
» attached to the skin)
» 2. Traction (Pulling and yanking the graft free from the skin)
» 3. Compression (squeezing the graft with forcepts to keep a grip while
» pulling)
»
» ALL FUE doctors subject their FUE grafts to these destructive forces. My
» patented Feller Punch, which has been disclosed for years, minimizes these
» forces more than any other punch known and my FUE yeilds still fall short
» of strip yields.
»
» The only way to improve FUE yields is to significantly reduce these forces
» which no FUE doctor has done to date no matter the hype and “secretive”
» instrumentation.
»
» Look at it like this, a follicle is just like an eyeball. How well do you
» think you would see if your eyeball were squeezed, twisted, and pulled by
» a forcepts? You don’t have to be a doctor to know the tissue damage would
» be severe. Now remember than a follicle is thousands of times smaller and
» more vunerable than an eyeball.
»
» That said, FUE is still and excellent procedure and I perform 3 per week
» of various sizes. But it’s limitations must be made known to patients
» before hand and overly aggressive procedures should be avoided until the
» technology catches up.

Dr. Feller, how can you speak for everyone? Are you assuming that every doctor does FUE the same way you do?

» Unfortunately it is true.
»
» The facts are I’ve seen the results of FUE from every “big name” FUE

Dr. Feller, this is Dr. Bisanga’s patient, it is FUE and every bit as good as strip and it is more than 500 grafts, 1495 grafts to be exact. You know what’s even better? It doesn’t come with a strip scar.

This one is also FUE over 500 grafts, every bit as good as strip. Bring out the best ever 1800grafts strip and let’s compare.

John,
Thank you for the post.
I am aware of both of these patients and believe the results are excellent. I have performed identical cases with FUE myself and have also had the same positive results.
My point isn’t that FUE cases above 500-600 don’t work (obviously I performed 1,000 in one procedure on my patient at the top of the thread and even larger ones in other threads), but that they don’t work as well as strip on a consistent basis.

The two cases you show us here are excellent, and they may even be demonstrating near 100% growth, but that is simply not the case on a consistent basis for FUE. I see FUE work from other doctors on a very regular basis and can assure you of this.

Have you noticed that no FUE doctor has gotten on this thread to counter my claim? No reasonable FUE practitioner is going to deny that FUE grafts are subjected to far greater stress than strip grafts. In fact to do so would be MEDICAL MALPRACTICE and actionable in civil court. In some states in the US if a doctor doesn’t inform his patient that the alternative to FUE (strip)is available and produces higher yields, they can be successfully sued for failure to give INFORMED CONSENT, and rightfully so.

There is no question that some FUE doctors are better than others. No question at all. Dedication, use of tools, team work, and experience are variables that weigh in heavily in the successful execution of FUE.

But if you want the absolute irrefutable way to know if your choice of FUE doctor is the best one, simply ask them to allow you to video tape one of their FUE sessions. I have no quesiton that Dr. Wolf and Dr. Bisanga would consent to it as long as the patient consents. They are transparent. I have already been videotaped and photographed performing FUE and have been since 2002. If an FUE doctor you are considering doesn’t allow it, then that should raise a big red flag.

Wish there was a way to count the transplanted grafts after 12 months.
Any ideas? lol

You could cut the hair and then take a picture. Then import the photo into photoshop and literally count every graft. Tedious, but do-able.
The hard part is getting the patient to cut his hair.

That only works if the area was slick bald before the surgery.

Good point. What about telogen hair? Some of the follicles might have gone into telogen before the surgery so you didn’t notice them. 12 months later they came out of the telogen phase and if you took a picture at that time, you might think that the grafts must be growing nicely when in fact they were not.
