Hi everyone, this is the first time I write on this forum. I’ve been taking 0.5mg/day of avodart for almost 8 months with good results (I had been on Propecia for 4 years before that). But I’m afraid a very slow hairloss is still going on on my temples and I’m pretty obsessed with it…
I read that 2.5 mg/day could inhibit 82% of scalp DHT instead of 55 % with 0.5mg/day.
My question is : is 1 month a long enough period to try that 2.5 mg dosage, just to see if there are results ? I know I couldn’t afford this dosage permanently anyway, and I read that Bryan Shelton doesn’t recommend it. But still, what do you think of such a trial ? I would give you my results, would some of you be interested ?
THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR HELP !
Pierre
PS: is scalp DHT the most important criteria considering effective hair loss ?
Pierre,
I haven’t posted on this forum in a while, but I HAD to respond to your post. DO NOT under any circumstances take 2.5mg Avodard daily. I tried it for five months, and not only did it fail to slow my hairloss, it gave me HORRIBLE sexual side effects. I thought they would subside after a while, but they didn’t. I couldn’t get an erection to save my life.
You can do what you want to try and stop your hairloss, and you may respond differently from me, but if you’re getting good results from 0.5mg Avodart daily, why would you risk serious screwing up your endocrine system?

Distress your sexual side effects temporary or permanent? I am on Propecia and am worried about long term side effects if I am to have a child with my wife.
Thanks for this information, I think I won’t try it then… Were you already on 0.5mg of avodart before those problems ?
Anyone else tried taking 2.5mg of avodart ?
Thanks again for the advice and good luck to you, I’m sure it’ll get back to normal someday, this just can’t be. It may take months again but it should get back to normal

This is why im so against avodart, it can really mess you up. I wouldnt even take the .5 a day. Its not fda approved for hairloss.
