I don’t believe strip excision can be credited to any single surgeon. But in the early nineties, the technology did begin to replace the method of punch out grafts (plugs) that formerly was the primary method used to harvest hair for transplantation. The reason supporting the strip method of harvest was to accomodate the approach and advancement of FUHT technology. Meaning, the tissue was diseected into smaller grafts (micros & minis) and began to soften or add some aesthectic value to the procedure. Today, the best strip docs have the strip microscopically dissected into the natural occuring FUs as much as possible. Yes some singles may need to be cut for the hairline, etc, but moving a high percent of FUs intact produce the best aesthetic result in the right hands.
