Whats so bad about beeing bald?

Not picking up women. 90% of chicks frown upon baldness. That is just a fact, I know it is wrong and superficial, but it is a FACT

depends on the age of the woman

I would say early 20s ur right
as they get 30s 40s they might not love it , but they certainly would not turn down a thinning successful man, as they would have in their early 20s

after all they see their own expanding waistlines, wrinkles coming in, and womens hair doesnt exactly get better with age, lots of them start to see thinning too

Well Sir… by that logic you must be married to the world’s fattest woman whose, coincidentally, cursed with the face of a Shar Pei.

I’ve had girls as young as 22 and I’m 43. I’ve even had admiring comments from girls much younger (probably about 16). Girls find me very attractive in a menacing sort of way. They don’t have a problem with my baldness. However, I do.

You can provide all the antecdotal evidence you want, but time and time again, University studies have shown that appearence plays a tremendous role in our society. Most bald men simply look odd. When you are bald, you look deformed. A lack of hair is something the mind certainly picks up on immediately, if not subconsciously, and is decoded as a negative indicator of youth and virility. We can all say, “it doesn’t matter”, and that may be true for you, but science has proven conclusively that it most certainly does in a variety of very important ways. It certainly can be overcome (with, as most have mentioned, significant personal success), but it IS something that must be compensated for.

I was out with some friends of mine the other night. One of my friends (a friend of my fiance, actually) got very rude with a guy sitting at a table next to us. Her final remark that shut him up? “Whatever - you’re bald!” It turned a grown man that, until that point had been defending himself admirally, totally white. He had nothing else to say. I myself am thinning (but only noticable to me - NW1.5-2), and I cringed for the poor fellow. He was sooo embaressed.

So yeah, you can all wait until you’re 40 and the women who haven’t been married (usually for a good reason) are more willing to look at you, or you can do something about it (meds, HT, or HM), pick up a girl in her 20’s who’s actually worth dating, and move on with your life. But to claim that baldness doesn’t matter and that we should all go bald with a smile on our face is utter nonsense - socially, scientifically, and personally.

I agree with skiploss about this issue 100%.

The fact that someone is able to produce anecdotes that defy the norm does not signal that the “norm” has changed any.

(And why the hell was the anecdotal incident memorable, anyway? Probably because it was SURPRISING.)

you know this attitude makes me angry. its a superficial attitude which says “just good looking people succeed in society”. especially when you pick scientifical “proves” for that. really … you probably dont know how to read a scientifical study and you completley misinterpret these studies. they all say that looks have some effect on your life. with pointation on some. its not that if you re ugly your life is over or that you cant succeed in life. and you see it all negative. better you should see it this way…see it positive. if you still have most of your hair and look good, that s a bonus which you should be happy of. but its not something negative if you are bald or ugly. look at bill gates. is he handsome??? or steve ballmer , he is a nw 7 , but yet he is a billionair and CEO of microsoft.

looks have some effect on your life but looks arent everything in life. if you think so , then you re pretty superficial. you are like the girls who reject bald men coz of their baldness. that s why you re on this forum. you like this superficial attitude and dont want to loose it. this is what puts all people on this forum together …the superficial attitude that looks are the most important thing in life. i know i have some of this attitude in myself too, otherwise i wouldnt be here. but its not a good attitude which you should increase, you should try to decrease it. life should be about to become a good person. not to be handsome.

just proves my point of what i wrote above. count yourself lucky that you are only a nw 1.5 .

So you want to change the overall public opinion of appearance, baldness, and the biological underpinnings of that opinion? And how’s that working out?

You sound like that fat lobbying group that tries to convince people that being fat is attractive and healthy. But hey, if it helps you sleep at night (alone), then more power to you.

Reality is what it is. Its not fair. The question is, do you deal with it, or do you try to lie to yourself that it doesn’t exist?

easy comeback for that…just like if someone calls u fat, hey i can lose weight, but u, u will still be ugly no matter what, same with a bald comment, i can shave my head, or get a transplant, you , you will still be stupid, or ugly

get real skiploss
yes appearance in general will be a point for discrimination , but so is height, race…weight…education…social status…etc etc etc. if you are going to go around thinking the way you do, it will only make life more difficult

your attitude, is, if i lose my hair, im a loser and will have it 10 times harder in life or business or romance, that is bullshit, pure and simple

what would you do if you had a real disability, if you were in a wheelchair…just roll over and die?

there are 10s of thousands of guys with thick great hair, in prison for life…so what does that say about how hair is important? would u trade places with them? I could also find you 1000s of successful multi millionairs, who are bald, and I guarantee you they have hot wives too…so being bald did what for them? make them a loser in love and business?

your theory that hair matter so damn much is all in your head…it matters way more to you than it does to the other people. If a woman is choosing her dates based on the guys hair…then that is not a woman you want in your life

I gotta tell ya bro, I’m totally concerned for you.

I expect more intelligent come-backs from a 42 year old geezer. Throwing shit on the wall in hopes something will stick might work in your living room, but it won’t work here.

.

if you think your appearance is more important than your intelligence or your accomplishments in getting a job…then explain all the multi millionaire CEOs who are BALD

Jack Welch…CEO former. General Electric

Michael Milken…Billionaire

Ross Perot…Billionaire

Carlos Slim Helu…net worth 60 billion

She’s neither stupid nor ugly. She is pretty damn cute. And shaving one’s head does not solve the hairloss problem - it only accentuates it (the bald look - for the vast majority of people - is not a good one).

As for not wanting a woman who considers appearence important, what do you do, date ugly women? I consider appearence a very important factor, and I don’t hold it against a woman who thinks the same. Its natural to want to be with an attractive mate, and hair is a part of appearence. Its a biological fact that we use appearence to judge fitness in a mate, a partner, or a friend.

I’m not saying that hair or a lack of it will determine your fate, but for those of you who are arguing that people don’t notice your hairloss and don’t consider it in a variety of important ways are kidding yourselves. I’m just glad its not something I’m dealing with yet, and I hope that a cure will come out before I do.

you are talking about women what age? early 20s? then yes they are twits who only want to date hot guys…

I told you that we are not saying people do not judge by appearance , they do…however welcome to the real world…so what ? I said they judge on height, weight, race…hell blacks discrimate against other blacks that are darker skinned, people discriminate on age…sex…you name it they discriminate on it. So my question is what if you cannot find a way to fix your balding then what? by your attitude that will make you a loser. My attitude is, deal with the hand you are dealt in life and move on, instead of crying about how you cant get hot babes. Hell i know a lot of guys that have thick luxurious hair, that have no chance with women…Why? no personality, shallow self centered assholes. selfish, or hell even ugly, Hair will not transform an ugly face into a handsome movie star…Look at Kramer on seinfeld even when his hair was great, u think he was good looking? nope you think he could get a date easily NOPE

HANGIN
ouch says rev…nice lame attempt at a comeback

DUDE. YOU’RE 42 YEARS OLD. GROW UP
This is getting really tired. I wouldn’t mind this bickering if you were 12, but you’re 42 years old. 42 years old. Could you, at least, meet me half way, and act like a 21 year old?

As an aside, Haggin, why are you here? People want to talk about HM, and you just start shitstorms. You’re almost as bad as Maneless. He’s finally gone, and I was hoping with his departure you’d settle down, but instead, you just pick more fights.
