Dear forum readers,
Vishwa underwent a hybrid/combination hair transplant procedure using 4421 grafts (3500 strip + 408 fuse + 513 beard). He is happy with the results and is now proceeding with the next stage of hair restoration for the crown-swirl area. This video shows him combing his hair and a close up of the hairline while combing the hair.
» Dr. A I think sometimes you have a tendency to make the hairline too
» straight which makes the hair transplant look artificial.
Dear reiner,
There is a reason for the straighter hairlines that you will sometimes see.
If the patient combs his hair back, too deep zigzags will make his hairline look a bit strange and thin. The very shallow zigzags come in useful when the intention is to be able to comb the hair back (or gel it up/back)and still make the hairline look dense.
If you look non balding hairlines in nature, you will find many similar examples.
Here are a few examples of similar hairlines where we did not resort to big zigzags in the front rows. The patient desires to be able to comb/gel his hair back or up and very shallow zigzags help here.
Dr Arvind how come I never see you use nape hair for the hairline like Dr. Umar does? Maybe you won’t have to worry about the hairline being too straight if you use nape hair.

Dear HMorHT,
We have used nape hair for the hairline in suitable patients. However, it is important to remeber that the nape hair area is not necessarily “safe” or permanent donor area. This must be clarified to the patient before using it.
When informed, most patients prefer not to gamble on using the nape hair as a donor resource.

Dr. A
