Do any of you guys know if there is any advantage to using Nizoral 2% shampoo on a daily basis? I know it dries your hair and scalp out but I have a very oily scalp.

It increases hair shaft thickness dramatically. I’ve always had fine hair, and now the hairs amazingly thick. I do find that it changes the texture a bit - my hair has always been straight, and now some of it is a little crinkly.

I used Nizoral for a number of years initially for dandruff but I noticed that it did slow the hair loss. However I did start getting quite nasty side effects from it, similar to what you experience with Finasteride, even though the doc said it shouldn’t be possible to absorb enough Ketonazole through your scalp to have these side effects, I clearly did. They reversed when I stopped using it.
I tried American Crew for a while which was OK, then Schwartzkopf Bonacure which I thought made my hair loss worse, I now use ProFusion shampoo and conditioner (you can find any of these easily via an online search).
I would also add, that you shouldn’t use Nizoral daily, it is designed to be used once or twice a week, so you are increasing your chances of getting side effects.
But…if it is working for you…and no sides…for the moment don’t change a winning formula!

So if you use nizoral twice a week what should you expect? Less sheeding, a bit of regrowth?

i use it when my scalp gets extremely oily
the oil i believe is due to an over-active sebacious glands at the root of the hair follicle.
nizoral 2% cleans that up for me.

I would still recommend that you use it every other day and not daily!!!
Where can you find 2% at? I have only found 1% in stores…

It’s very easy to find and order from online. In Canada we just buy it at the store.
I’ve been using it almost every day since I first asked this question and I’ve had no side effects or problems. I haven’t noticed a difference in appearance but I don’t seem to shed as much. I buy mine from Dr. Richard Lee at minoxidil.com.

Justin how long do you leave it in your hair for?
What I do is I let hot water soak my head for about 4-5 minutes then lather the niz shampoo about 2 full spoon worth in size all over (dont wash the hair with it just lather it everywhere) and let it sit for 6-7 minutes. I then wash it out gently as the hair becomes very tangled and I don’t want to break any of my hair especially it being long. I grab the conditioner used for post-hair dye applications. I just get a dab and for about 2 second run it through my hair (not the scalp) and rinse it immediately. This way I don’t criss-cross with the nizoral application and my hair becomes extremely managable and and smooth like a baby’s ass. You can’t do this with any other conditioner. Other conditioners will require a much longer lather and has too many chemicals compared to this conditioner. Just a simple swap of your hands back and forth two times on your hair and rinse immediately.

See for me it did the opposite. It made my hair ultra ultra thin and soft, I hated the stuff and stopped using it.
I know it works for other people though.
Nizoral has helped me a great deal with my thin hair. It’s a very good shampoo.

I wet my scalp and use approx 15ml or so and lather it up. I usually leave it in for about 5 min. I don’t use any conditioner afterward because conditioners make my hair look flat and thinner. I have an excessively oily scalp anyway.
