I haven’t posted in a long time. I used to post under the moniker “hairypalm” but my account evidently was deactivated. The debate surrounding ACELL has inspired me to post once again. In particular, I wanted to comment on the guys who say ACELL is worthless because it “will not grow new hair.” It seems to me that ACELL’s real value, if it works as hoped, will be to provide an unlimited (or nearly unlimited) donor supply for hair transplantation. I don’t think anybody is really saying that it will grow new hair in the bald area as HM would. To me, frankly, an unlimited donor area is good enough. In a way, that’s what HM Is about too. If I can go in for several mega sessions of hair tranplants and come out a couple of years later with a true, full head of hair, that’s really all I can ask for. And even if I don’t have the full density I had when I was sixteen, keep in mind that even half that density generally is considered enough to make it appear you have a full head of hair.
I realize that creating an unlimited donor supply is not the silver bullet many hope for in true hair multiplication. And I realize that we don’t even know yet whether ACELL will work as hoped. But if it does work, and if I can truly get a full head of hair thanks to ACELL’s ability to regenerate tissue in the donor area, how is that a bad thing? I dunno, what are other people’s thoughts. If ACELL were to work as hoped, and creates an unlimited donor supply, won’t you take advantage of that? I sure as hell will.
Before you flame me for not offering any new information, please remember that this is a forum, not just a posting board for news.
You didn’t post anything that would justify someone flaming you so if they do tell them to eat the smelly stuff. That aside, your hope for ACELL is the same as my hope - an unlimted donor supply. But I do disagree with you about one thing even if you only get back 50% thickness you will be able to create the illusion that it is 70% thickness, or even more because the new hair volumizers and hair expanders are so good at making it look like you have more than you actually do. They have technologically advanced molecules that get inside each hair shaft that you have and the molecules expand once they get inside the shaft. They have volumizers that coat the hair and stick thereby making the diameter of both (the hair itself and the volumizer molecules that stick to the shaft) combines look thicker even though the hair itself is not one bit thicker. They also have sprinkle on products that effectively create the illusion of more hairs on your head. If you can get 50% thickness over your entire scalp, with today’s technologically advanced illusions you could make it look like you have 70% of your hair on your scalp without wearing fake hair. Cool huh?

That would be nice…but even if this works out and does produce new hair, how long would it be to get other doctors to perform the same procedure and have it done for us??

There are no regulations stopping it in the U.S. If it works well, I don’t see why other docs wouldn’t want to start using it right away (at least if they want to stay competitive). That’s IF it works well.

I completely agree. I just want a full head of hair again…I really don’t care how I get it. I’ve already had transplants, so I’m over the “virgin head” thing. If this stuff proves to work well, I’ll check into getting more transplants asap. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life waiting for something better (that may never come out).
I gotta be honest my hope in acell has declined based on jones photos. I know its early but i must say that wound look likes it stretching as opposed to regenerating and even if hair does grow into the small patch that is regenerated its not gonna be enough to provide enough unlimited donor supply.
I just hope it gives scar less healing

Almost 3 years later, any new thoughts on Acell, maneless, googoo, jarjarbinx?
