if thier are hairs that are resistant to DHT why dont they study non resistant hairs and compare them to resistant hairs and see why they are resistant in the first place? check for properties that could be added to DHT suceptible hairs.

this has been done for years…

the dermal papilla cells release different growth factors in mpb hairs than occipital area hairs.

the dp cells in mpb hairs release more tgf-beta 1 and 2, dkk-1, thrombospondin, fgf-5, tnf-alpha, protien kinease c …all these substances lead to a slowing of cell division in certain other follicle cells like the root sheath or keratinocytes, etc. DKK-1 even leads to apoptosis (cell death) in certain keratinocyte cells

most likely baldness in scalp hair is due to the encoding of the androgen receptor gene as the skin grew up over the top of your head in fetal development. The ectodysplasin family of genes have some members that go with the androgen receptor gene and probably determine how strongly androgen receptors will be expressed in various areas of the scalp at that time (first trimester in pregnancy). Researchers find no difference in alpha five reductase genes in mpb men and hirsute men, so the difference in the androgen receptor gene seems much more signifigant

sounds interesting but im not a doctor you lost me with all the terminology.
