Strange and severe fallout

Hi guys, I’m fairly new as hairloss has only recently become a real problem(as someone who has always had hair it’s been a hearbreaking revelation what so many of you -and now me as well- have been facing. My problem has been chronic fatigue syndrome, but, at least for many years, it caused little hairloss, and though it may be related now, this seems something totally different. At the beginning of this spring I pretty much had a full head of hair and now much of it is gone from back, top and front. This crazy hot humid summer seemed to have played a part. Sweat, for me, now equals big fallout. Also, am getting a fairly quick immune response(causing more fallout) to shampoos I’m using to alleviate problem. Catch 22.
Anyway, the strange part: often many hairs together in a crust(except it’s an oily, waxy crust) are combed out with this crust after shampooing. Any ideas guys on treating this? Closest appt. with a dermatologist in may area is mid Oct., however in meantime(except for mentioned cfs) my regular doc says I’m healthy. Would certainly appreciate help from someone knowledgable.

sounds like psoriasis or Sebopsoriasis but only an examination will tell. If it is then it will recover with treatment. In fact apart from MPB “most” acquired conditions are reversible.

Thanks very much, Marco, and maybe I’ll find some help. Even if I do get my hair back, I know I’ll continue being interested in this forum. In this era of such complex technology as the Hadron Collider, probes to other planets, it seems incredible some company hasn’t come up a cure for hairloss. However, I do believe they are ‘hot’ on the trail and hope sincerely that is the case.

Frank, how old are you? I am the same, my hair has always been very good until earlier this year when I can see clear signs of thinning, and it is going quite fast. You said yours started around spring and now much of it is gone from back top and front? Can someone lose this much hair in just a matter of months? Can you post pics ? I will try to upload some pics in a few weeks once I have found a good camera to use.

Lucky, my thinning has been diffused, but there’s been quite a lot of it. It seems definitely associated with scalp condition(Marco thought it perhaps was sebopyriosis, and now I tend to agree) and a very strong immune response(probably connected to CFS which I have had a long time). If I could just find something to ease the immune response; it seems I’ve already made headway with the ‘sebo’ problem. If you think your problem is similar maybe you first should try Head and Shoulders Intense Formular or a like product. I wish you luck.

Im familiar with CFS and what may be going on - its linked to the Amygdala.

Which country do you live in?

Thanks
Pete

United States. While living in Lake Tahoe I became ill with a virus(flu x 10) unbelievablly sick for two weeks or so, and then everything changed, my body, and mind, for that matter, as well did not work the same. I have always thought it was some new kind of virus and now NIH and Harvard Medical School are about to publish new study showing it’s association with something called xmrv virus. With regard to hair, I’ve got the sebo problem abated, it’s the immune response to things like tea tree oil, etc. that’s causing terrible fallouts. Do you think perhaps liquid hydrocortisone or anti histamine sprayed on scalp after shampoo a good idea?

Thanks,
Frank

Yes Ive heard of this virus amongst countless others.

CFS normally has a genetic component and also predisposing factors.

If you want you can email me at : bhammanuk@hotmail.co.uk and I will drop you some links on how you can reverse this condition as it is all linked to the Amygdala!

In terms of your scalp condition perhaps your doc can help.
Ive seen creams that contain Sulphur and Salicylic Acid which are said to help.

Thanks
Pete

I have the same problems as you.

  • Fatigue for years.
  • Grain (like a grain of sand) like white crust with small hair follicles embedded in them coming out.
  • If i squish the grain it has an oily, waxy texture.

I believe I have mpb although the thinning is diffuse.

Please let me know what works for you and what the dermatologist says.

Tea tree oil shampoo and Head & Shoulders shampoo got rid of the crust problem and improved the itching, however hair continues to fall out a sickening pace. Dermatologist said telogen effluvian was her diagosis, which often, according to her, improves, however mine is getting worse and so I suspect something else is going on.

What I think(probably meaningless other that to me) is the chronic fatigue syndrome virus(at last and very recently identified as most likely the xmrv virus) is causing an overblown immune response to hair follicles and expecially to anything I use on my hair more than once, ie something–for instance, CROWN, which is basically a mineral formulation–make work well first time–hair almost immediately feels stronger, thicker–but on second use comes pronounced itching and terrific fallout. I wish you better luck.

it started 2 years ago, tried shampoos and vitamins pills and it just get worst. it is really hard to see yoursel getting bold.
is it really a fatality, when you lose your hair you lose it for ever?

i’m 43 and started using minoxidol about two years ago and about 4 months ago i started to develop heavy crust around the application area, it didn’t hurt, but it would not go away. Also have been noticing heavy fallout of hair all around my scalp. I started to put olive oil to loosen the crust which is working, but chunk of hair are also coming out. Very similar to you guys and along the same time line ( a few few months on) very scary for me now. I live in toronto Canada. Any help from you guys !!!

As Marco posted it sounds like seborrea dermatitis. I’ve read that a new prescribtion shampoo containing cicloprix has helped some. I’m going to try it after next visit to dermatologist. Selsom Blue helped me somewhat, but it’s(SD) a recurring problem and the dog just doesn’t seem to stay under the porch for whatever reasons --excess stress, diet, vit-mineral deficiencies being usual suspects.

I am certain that i can help you solve your problem and stop the itch and shed. You can never, ever let sweat stay on your scalp. It combines with sebum and air and it becomes a chemical depilator, if you will, and make you shed. Every single day of your life wash your hair as i will explain below and never go to bed with a sweaty, greasy scalp.

1.- wash hair every day, even 2 or 3 times in hot weather with liquid castile soap.
2.- while washing with warm water, your scalp skin will become softer, so with fingernails of both hands–gently–in motions not more than a few milimeters at a time, dig and scrape scalp until you get some gunk under your fingernails. Do this throughout your whole scalp until you get no more gunk.
That’s it.
What this does is #1 remove the sebum and gunk and scrapes the filmy mantle that wants to grow over your scalp and suffocate the hair follicles, and #3 it micro-wounds the scalp which in turn activates micro-healing and at the same time it prompts hair follicles to start growing.

This works and it’s almost free. Been doing this for decades.
