Stem Cells breakthrough at Univeristy of Pennsylvania

While studying the role of stem cells in skin regeneration, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania medical center say they’ve been able to regenerate new hair follicles in adult mice. They weren’t trying to cure baldness, but they say that they may have, by combining stem cells with a secret compound.

This is different from hair loss drugs like Propecia and Rogaine, which help people maintain their hair but don’t grow new hair.

As Dr. Nancy Snyderman said, this treatment could be on the market for humans within three years.

thanks for posting…it wasn’t on my radar

It’s very nice to hear, we went from within 5 years to within 3 years…

it was about a time … we have been being promised a cure within 5 years for two decades already

Cry wolf too long and eventually everyone stops listening to you.

But that doesn’t mean the wolf is never coming.

Dr. Nancy Snyderman said it could be on the market within 3 years. From what date is she talking about? 3 years from when? Some posters are saying this is an old article/news. It seems to me that if this is an old article then perhaps it was 2 years ago that Dr. Nancy Snyderman made her statement about this treatment being on the market in 3 years. Perhaps there’s only 1 year left to wait.

Well Washenik said they will have something within 5 years 7 years ago. so perhaps they have something for two years already but forgot to start selling it.

Two years, three years, four years, commercializing stage#3 . . . whatever.

I’m just glad that I’m probably not gonna die bald.

lol

Yes! That’s the point, that changes everything, ok maybe we’ll have to wait but now we know almost for sure that there will be one day we can feel a full head of hair again… and that day will be a day of joy only few people get in one life. we know our condition is not permanent anymore. that makes me feel great!

They did the study on mice, it’s always easier, it means nothing unless they start doing human trials.

Apparently, Follica already grew human hair on human skin grafted on a mouse.

Also, one of Follica’s Principlals stated the following:
" We have seen numerous clinical reports of patients showing sustained hair cycling when exposed to conditions similar to the treatment Follica is pursuing (in a carefully directed and controlled way). "

Absolute proof - Not yet.
Promising - ABSOLUTELY !!!

Is Follica a public traded on the stock exchange like Intercytex ?

No. It’s a private venture, but they’re founded by PureTech (a group of leading academics committed to commercializing life sciences), Dr. George Cotsarelis remains Follica’s co-founder (meaning the technology wasn’t passed on to some half-wit - it’s staying with the man who discovered the concept), and the company’s patents seem associated with Gillette (aka proctor and gamble). This is definitely serious - nothing like Aderans for example.
