So Confused

I’m finding the messages in the forum hard to follow so I forget all the good information people tell me. I wrote my list of supplies on a pad of paper and it’s gone!

So I went to the store today bought some Maxi-Hair, but wanted the cool vitamin E mentioned by the Natural but couldn’t remember what it was.

Whoever suggested I take Biotin in a high dose, thanks! I believe my shedding has stopped for now and my nerves are at ease.

I have been taking dutas for 3 weeks now, taking organic apple cider vinegar for 2. I have been taking the resveratrol/curcummin for 5 weeks now and downing a couple of Green Tea extract pills each day. Along with Dry E, and some C I think I’m doing ok.

However, I see new entries about the resveratrol study and it looks like some of you have come up with different regiments for taking it.

I’m 5’8 and 155lbs. Could someone please tell me the exact amount of Resveratrol/curcummin I should be taking and what type of E and C are to be taken with it and how much?

And what is the meaning of the new study with that Quercitan and Rice Bran crap. I just want to do it and do it right.

Also, my shampoo research has been extensive but a solo effort. I have found and really enjoy a certain product but am willing to hear about a better one.

I currently use Aubrey Organics Men’s Stock ginseng Biotin Shampoo. Here is a link which shows the indgredients. You can find it at any healthfood store but looks like you could buy on this link. I’ve never purchased here so I can’t guarantee this is a reputable site.

So if someone could be so kind and review my regiment and offers some tweeks, I would really be indebted to you.

Thanks in advance,

Hopefullhair

P.S. My best friend is an herbologist and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine in NyC. So if anyone suggests any of that He sho Wu crap or anything like that, I can probably have a batch made fresh. He makes my resveratrol for me fresh but says it’s a bitch. He uses that root everyone talks about but mine is very fresh. I’m not sure the age means a whole lot but I didn’t want stuff that had been sitting on a shelf for 5 years.

He was not surprised to find out that Resveratrol is getting popular in hair loss because it is so prevelant in Chinese Medicine. He agrees that for hairloss there needs to be more involved and thinks the curcumin makes sense.

Thanks again everyone, hope to hear something soon

I am just as confused, have you tried this link? I am still reading up on all the info, is Resveratrol and Curcummin the same thing?

Thanks for replying xbox360 and especially providing that link. I’m a bit uncomfortable with all that name calling towards the end of the thread because I want answers and help.

But first, Resveratrol and Curcummin are not the same thing. Resveratrol comes from grapes and has been shown to be helpful in fighting cancer and doing all types of good things for us. It’s the hot new antioxadant and is great. However, when you add Curcummin to it, the combimation is supposed to help with hairloss.

Curcummin is an indian spice. So taking both is ideal.

I imagine what the Natural is taking is pretty good.

But I’m confused a bit about this Toco -8. Are supposed to buy this and then eat some sesamee seeds?

I’ve never heard of Toco but if it works, I want it!

Are you taking it?

One thing I don’t see in your regimen is a growth stimulant. You need to add a minoxidil product in my opinion. At first I thought you only wanted an all natural routine, but then I saw that you are already using Dutas, so it really doesn’t make sense that you don’t add minox to your regimen. My 2 cents.

Thanks for replying to my post.

I really don’t know what all the stuff I take actually does. I have been just looking for stuff to stop the loss and hopefully regrow some of the minuturizing hairs I see on my head.

I used to use rogaine put it was such pain.

I just assumed that the dutas was taking care of the stimulation or that anti androgen element erased the need for a stimulant.

I do have one of those stupid Hairmax Laser combs which is supposed increase circulation in the scalp. I have also learned to do acupuncture on my own scalp which draws blood to the area. My friend is an acupuncture doctor. However, I worry that the needles my destroy too many follicles.

So anyway,

do you really feel that my regiment contains no stimulant?

Here’s what I am doing

dutas
Resveratrol and curcummin
green tea orally
Vitamin E and C (about to buy that Toco 8 crap and seasemee)
Hairmax Laser comb
Biotin for shedding
Aubrey Organic Ginsing Men’s Stock Shampoo
(ocasional coconut oil topically)

Let me know and hopefully others will read this and weigh in. If I have to get some minoxidil I will I guess.

thanks again for the attention I’m receiving. I really appreciate it.

abc is right. you look like you were heading towards a natural route (not very effective) 'till dutas showed up.

Put it like this, depending on the severity of your hairloss from mpb, dutas & minoxidil 5% alone will give you excellent results. I would add nizoral 2% up there as an anti-inflamatory and it’s showed to work better than minoxidil 2%. It will enhance the effectiveness of minoxidil and dutas.

Now for the herbal side…this list can go on forever. But biotin in high dose is good for “healthy” hair…not for regrowth of treatment for MPB.

Only thing is we don’t know how severe your hairloss is. If it’s not too bad maybe using finasteride rather than dutasteride would be just as beneficial with less sides and worrying.

I believe Toco is short for Tocopherol, which is just a fancy name for vitamin E. Toco-8 is a formula that combines 8 different kinds of vitamin E.

Thanks for the reply,

I just hit the healthfood store and bought Jarrow Formulas Toco Sorb and raw sesame seeds to increase the absorption. I did it because that is exactly what was suggested in this blog post.

You need to take 2 of the toco sorb pills with about 2 tablespoons of raw sesame seeds. I just spread some Peanut Butter on some bread poured the sesame seeds on it.

since most of your regimen is similar to the Naturals
you need to hang out on the Natural board and ask him about it
he doesnt hang out here and neither do I,
I am the one with the Maxi Hair suggestions etc but his is the Resveratrol one

Thanks for the response. How do I find the boards? I don’t really see how to enter them. I just see a few threads on the forum page.

http://www.hairsite.com/hair-loss/forum.php?category=4

Thats the Natural Board
there should be a pulldown menu on top of your hairsite which is shown on every page, that menu will take you to any board

Thanks for the help HanginInThere. I actually work online as a blogger and website content person so it’s really funny that I can’t figure out a forum. They seem very old school compared to blogs.

So now I see the boards and hopefully I will able to post in the right place and contribute to the discussion.

And just so you and everyone else knows. I am not married to one school of though regarding hairloss. I will take drugs, natural supplements or whatever it takes. I’m probably trying to many things at once but I let it go far too long.

I have plenty of miniturized hair on my head trying to hang in there right now so I just want to help them any way I can before they stop growing all together.

I also never stated that I do have micro and mini grafts but not nearly enough. But I do have my own (very fine strands) of hair still growing between the grafts so I’m really trying to hold out until I can afford more.

Thanks again,

Hopefull

You may want to consider taking this approach to slow down hairloss:

  1. Balancing your hormones - Saw Palmetto, Pygeum & Nettles
  2. Topical - Piroctone Olamine shampoo
  3. Lifestyle - Low carb, low saturated fats, low duretics

what are some examples of duretics. I googled the term and only found drugs.

Also, where can I get Piroctone Olamine Shampoo? I don’t have oily hair and I don’t think I have allot of sebacious build up in the scalp. I keep it pretty clean but I’m willing to try anything.

And, should I just throw down a bunch of Nettles with my regiment? I take dutas and my Resveratrol is made from the Pygeum root but I’m not sure if I have any nettles .

Thanks,

Alcohol, tea, coffee - anything that flushes useful minerals fromt the body ie.zinc!

There is a study which highlights its usefulness - I can post it if you wish!

Body shop do a Piroctone Olamine shampoo.

It depends what your trying to do?

If you are trying to offset the effects of increasing Estradiol whilst taking your DUTA then you could try Pygeum and possibly Nettles.

If you want a solid regime try one or the other!

Its useful to point out that you should try to keep a low sugar/carb, cholesterol diet.

Pete2,

Why do you recommend a low carb diet?

I’ve been on a low carb diet for 3 months now and have lost 20 lbs (without much additional exercise or any hunger pangs - in fact, it’s been easy!)

But if anything my hair is looking the worst it ever has. Clearly, I’m NOT linking the two, but I would be interested to hear your reasoning about why such a diet would be beneficial?

Inslin plays a role in hairloss - hence its best to stay away from simple carbs. I wouldnt recommend an exclusive high protein diet as it can also put additional strain on your body. Try to opt for a balanced diet.
