I was wondering if anyone has experienced initial shedding from Dut. and then saw regrowth. Has anyone out there been on Dut. over a year? Thanks.

From my experience, those that stick with the medication thru the shed do bounce back and their hair thickens after the shedding period. But it would be wise to discuss all of this with your doctor. Does he know your concerns??

Yes, but he along with several pharmacists are surprised when they hears of hair loss associated with Avodart. According to the literature available to MD’s and pharmacists, side effects with Avodart include hair growth not hair loss. But it would make sense that before growth occurs, old hair has to be shed. I had a hair transplant 3 months ago and the transplanted hair is growing like crazy. But my front, hairline is what is thinning since I started Avodart. I will give it until spring till I quit Avodart.

How long have you been on it? I’m on month four and haven’t experienced a shed.

I have been on Avodart 0.5MG for 6 weeks now. Shed started after week three. Like I said, I have read many posts from guys who have experienced the shed but not many post back to say that they have regrown what they have lost.

The problem is, alot of people get on the meds thinking it will help there hair out, and as soon as they start shedding hair they freak out and jump off the medication. They end up worse off.

If you decide to get on Avodart you have to make a decision before hand that you are ready to take a step backwards with your hair and ride out the shed, to look better 5-6 months down the road.

Is the 5-6 month mark when people start to see an improvement?

Some people do, for some it takes longer.
