Question re scalp hair to beard transplants

CNN ran a story recently re an increase in scalp hair to beard transplants, for the purpose of creating a thicker beard.

Question: Assuming beard hair cycles at 1/4 the rate of scalp hair, will the newly implanted scalp hair tend to take on the surrounding beard hair
characteristics? Specifically, hair thickness, color, “stiffness”, and shedding period. I recall speculation about beard and body hair transplants taking on scalp characteristic, but is the opposite true?

Thanks.

ESP

Dear ESP,
The transplanted scalp hair to the beard do not take on beard hair characteristics.
Also body hair taking on scalp hair characteristic was at best a speculation… in our experience.
Regards,
Dr. A
