I’m on Fin, Foam and I rotate my use of Niz with Alpecin and the Revivogen shampoo.
However, I wanted to add some variety to my shampoo regimen, and I know that for years you (and others) have been going on about Piroctone Olamine and Zinc Pyrithione (spelling?).
Can you recommend any shampoos (by brand name) that contains these ingredients. I think you said T Gel contains one of these. Can you recommend another shampoo that contains the other?

I use shampoos which specifically lower the IMMUNAL response as this the mechanism at work topically, in my opinion.
J F Lazartigue , Phyto , Loreal all carry Anti dandruff shampoos which contain Piroctone Olamine. I use one which is designed by HZ.

Goddammit! Just done an enormous reply to Hangin and Pete and the damn thing wouldn’t post properly!
To summarise…
Pete - Thanks will check out the Loreal range.
Hangin - yeah regimen okay. Fin stopped my terrible scalp pain and dramatically slowed the loss, but didn’t stop it. The Foam made me shed a ton at the temples which didn’t regrow, but has made the rest of my hair less frizzy and look glossier and healthier.
Fairly content so far, although I’ve had sides from Fin (weight gain, wobbly wood) and Minox (fat face). But my hair looks okay, and reducing my Fin dosage has sorted out a lot of the problems I had.

Im glad lowering the dosage has helped your sides.
Once you get the right combination right in terms of your topicals ie ones which lower IMMUNAL (inflammation ) response youll notice a difference in time in the condition of your hair.
pete, I forgot to ask which type of T gel you use. I thought I got the regular version, but I noticed I got the stubborn itch control version. I remember looking at the ingredients in the store and not all of them had the same active ingredient. The one I have uses the coal tar as it’s active ingredient.
Oh, the amount of menthol used in the stubborn itch control doesn’t seem to bother my hair. So if anything, I’m getting a proper dose of menthol on my hair.

I dont actually use T Gel, although I have tried it in the past.
The T gel you want does contain Piroctone Olamine as the active ingredient and NOT coal tar.
I use the Preventative Piroctone Olamine Shampoo ( contains Piroctone Olamine and Menthol ) that is available on the web.
That’s cool that’s cool your shampoo uses menthol with PTO. So far I’ve found not other shampoo that uses Piroctone Olamine with menthol. I’m assuming this is where you get your shampoo, right?
I also found this Piroctone Olamine shampoo that uses tea tree oil. I’ll probably buy both shampoos and compare the two.
So far it seems the only place in America I can find Piroctone Olamine shampoos is online. All the stores sell shampoo with the zinc pyrithione, sereum, or coal tar.

Yes.
Stay away from coal tar.

Here are 3 more PTO shampoos: T gel / Garnier / JF Lazartigue :
Google coal tar and cancer, you will find that high concentrations of coal tar cause cancer. There is debate on whether long term use of these shampoos cause skin cancer.
Unfortunately, the last two links will not sell outside of Australia. I got no reply from the first one. Sorry. I think that the only options for those of us stateside are SESDerma (from Amazon.com) and Calosol.
