thanks natural,
Quick update since this time…6 months later. My hair is pretty much to the length it was before. The quality of my hair is still pretty thin, not as thick as it was before the die job.
It is passable though, I’m thinner in the areas around the transplant at the front of the scalp. I compensate for this with styling and camoflaging the area with dermatch. It’s not perfect though.
I believe alot of the hair that is thin can recover. I actually tried the “Big 6” that is posted on the other site immortalhair.com by their administrator. To see if it was a magic bullet… It has done nothing for me and I’ve probably regressed on this formula. So I’ll be switching back Hangin’s routine ,with a couple of different supplements.Again, I don’t use DHT blockers because I’m sensitive to them.
I was using the Curc/Reservatol, Maxi-Hair, Chelated Multi-iron free, Fish Oil, MSM and Toco-8.
That seemed to work pretty good. Adding the Toco-8 seemed to help(Thanks Natural). It is expensive though. So I was looking for alternatives, but the immortalhair combo cost more probably, and didn’t do squat. oh well…
Would be interested in any shampoo suggestions. Anyone using something that works well for them???
I believe a decent shampoo can also give your hair a boost. Mine seems to look better with some shampoos compared to others.
Jailbird, nice to see you posting again! Thanks for the update.
Since this past March, I have been taking vitamin D3 with curcumin and resveratrol. And I feel that it has really made a difference. So much so, that I dropped tocotrienols from my regimen (for now). You might think about adding it, vitamin D, to yours as well.
A synergism exist between curcumin and vitamin D3: Vitamin D3 and Curcumin Offer Hope to Alzheimer's Patients - NaturalNews.com
Vitamin D3 is very inexpensive too. Start with these three (curcumin, resveratrol, and vitamin D3) in the morning.
Fish oil causes some people to shed, so be careful with that.
Oh, I am not very good with shampoos. Jacob, if he is around, could better direct you in this particular area.
Hope this helps!

Yes i really agree with consuming vitamin D.

Hey Natural,
Thanks again for your time and patience…
Quick update on my condition…I had been doing allright for the past few months…about a month ago…I started a mild shed…nothing too alarming, but found my hair was looking a bit thin, dried out and noticed more hair falling out- about 20-30 a day,up from about 10-20,
Thought it was lifestyle, and adjusted my diet…but recently went on a 10 day trip to Mexico to surf and it really did a number on my scalp…Alcohol and diet and bad shampoo induced I supposed, but now I’m in a pretty bad shed…losing over 50 a day…notice them falling out in shower during the day…and my hair has a dry brittle appearance…
Also,I’ve been stressing alot lately, which I believe has something to do with it…any suggestions to reverse the cycle and get my hair on a healthy track again would be appreciated…also money is tight…so I can’t afford all the pricey vitamins like before…just using maxi hair…with resver/curc combo…
thanks.
Hi Jailbird,
Stress and diet have everything to do with the poor condition of your hair/scalp. Unfortunately, from my experience, cheap hair vitamins like Maxi Hair will not do much of anything. I am slowly but surely ridding myself of supplements with fillers and other extras that do more harm than good. For example, Maxi Hair contains, besides the impressive list of vitamins and minerals, all of these: Cellulose, stearic acid, oligosaccharides, magnesium stearate, cellulose & glycerin coating, silica, calcium silicate, natural vanilla, vegetable glaze. Ridiculous, right.
I have been using supplements by Paradise Herbs: Naturally grown or ethically wild crafted without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or preservatives. I take one of their curcumin and one of their resveratrol capsules daily. So a 3-month supply costs less than $40. You will notice that this means “only” 125 mg. of curcumin and 15 mg. of resveratrol a day. But we have to remember that the curcumin/resveratrol patent (http://www.hairloss-research.org/UpdateResveratrol11-07.html) used only, “in the composition according to this invention, the content of resveratrol can range from 3 to 6 mg; of Curcumin from 15 to 30 mg; of vitamin E from 50 to 100 mg; of vitamin C from 10 to 30 mg; of capsaicin from 2 to 5 mg; of powdered wheat germs from 50 to 450 mg.”
In addition, I have taken many types of resveratrol and curcumin, and I am not at all convinced that “more is better.” In fact, it may be detrimental, as many of us learned after taking LEF’s Super Bio curcumin, which, at about seven times the strength of Jarrow’s, caused a lot of people to shed like crazy.
Though difficult, you must find a way to reduce the stress in your life. Stress restricts blood flow to the scalp. As a consequence, the hair follicle cannot be properly nourished, causing it to become thinner. Vitamin C can help reduce/combat stress. Prayer and/or meditation are also beneficial.
The following supplements are a must-have. Their prices are very reasonable. A month’s supply should cost you no more than $30:
curcumin
resveratrol
vitamin D3
vitamin C
magnesium citrate
Hope this helps,

» Hello Everyone,
»
» Been awhile since I’ve been here. I have been on Hanginthere’s regimen for
» about 3 years now.(Thankx again Hangin!!) after having a small HT procedure
» (500 grafts) which did more harm than good, and started killing my hair…
»
» I am minus the DHT blockers as I am sensitive. Also I use the lazer comb
» 2-3 times a week. Which seems to help. I’ve been a pretty good responder to
» the naturals with some ups and downs, but satisfied with my results.
»
» Recently I died my hair a dark brown, almost black. As I remember doing
» this in the past had made my hair look thicker which was my intention…for
» the first few days worked great, my hair was thicker. Plus the grey hairs
» that had accumulated were covered.
»
» Problem is my scalp became severely irritated, very itchy. This was about
» 2 weeks ago…Since then I’ve been shedding (approx 60-100 hairs in the
» shower) and I have very bad dandruff. Most of my hairloss seems to occur in
» the morning. After my scalp has dried out overnight, and is very ithcy in
» the morning around the crown, front and back of my scalp.
»
» I’ve tried the Nizoral (doesn’t seem to help) along with other dandruff
» remedies. So I’m thinking something must have screwed with my scalp
» condition.
»
» I would appreciate any suggestions to help reverse this process as now I’m
» beginning to see the areas thin again around my front and crown. It’s not
» critical yet. So I’m hoping to get a grip on this before my psyche goes
» haywire again.
»
» Thanks to any responders
Add a PTO/tea tree oil shampoo.

thanks again for the response natural…I was wondering what your opinion is on how weather may affect hair quality…I’ve noticed over the years (I live in Southern California) that the weather patterns change here when we move into to winter, i.e. very dry, windy conditions, followed by rain, followed by dry windy conditions.
Seams that my hair is at its worst during this time…I have a hard time with dandruff and I tend to shed the most. Two days ago I may have had my worst shedding day ever!! probably over 100 hairs…just coming out everywhere…and now my hair is very limp and becoming a bit see through in areas.
I’m hoping that this will reverse itself and that my condition will improve being that this is as bad as my hair has looked in some time. I’m also taking the D3 curc/resveratrol combo…plus the hair multi.and also taking 2-4 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar per day…but my results are always up and down. Trying to get a handle on this, but something seems to be affecting me beyond my control.
jailbird,
Have you thought about “chelation,” removing heavy metals from your body, with modified citrus pectin (e.g. Jarrow’s Toxguard) or humifulvate. My guess is that your body could use “an inner cleansing of sorts.”
After which, the effectiveness of the other supplements may improve. This might be “boost” you have been looking for.

This could be the “boost.”
Thanks again to nature…
Think Natural and Go Natural…
Hi Jailbird,
Please allow me to share with you more information about tocotrienols and the human study that earned the bioenhanced palm tocotrienol complex (Tocomin SupraBio 50mg) a US patent (Patent No. 7,211,274) as a hair growth formulation that increases the number of hairs and prevent hair loss.
Tocotrienols and tocopherols are members of the Vitamin E family. While very similar in structure, tocotrienol differ in that it has an unsaturated side chain compared to a saturated side chain in tocopherol. Due to its unsaturated side chain, tocotrienol has exhibited numerous unique and additional biological activities, which are not shown by tocopherol. As such, tocotrienol has been touted as the Vitamin E of the 21st Century.
The tocotrienols are a natural form of vitamin E. It is found in our regular diet. While tocopherols are generally present in common vegetable oils (i.e. soy, canola), tocotrienols, on the other hand, are concentrated in cereal grains (ie. oat, barley, and rye, rice bran), with the highest level found in crude palm oil. It is unfortunate that not many consumers are aware of tocotrienols due to the low level in the Western diets.
A new 8-month study showed that supplementation of softgels containing Carotech’s Tocomin SupraBio bioenhanced palm tocotrienol complex promotes hair growth in men and women suffering from androgenetic alopecia.
28 volunteers (27 male, 1 female) aged 18 - 59 years with mild to moderately severe ongoing hair loss completed the 8-month study conducted at the School o f Pharmaceutical Sciences, University Science of Malaysia. The volunteers had hair loss problem for approximately 2-5 years and most of them had hair loss pattern scale III according to the Norwood/Hamilton classification scale. They were instructed not to alter their hairstyle, the hair care products (shampoo, conditioners, etc) currently in use or dye their hair during the study period.
The volunteers were randomly selected to receive the tocotrienols supplementation (20 volunteers received Tocomin SupraBio 50mg, Carotech) or the placebo (8 volunteers received a soft gelatin capsule containing 600mg soybean oil), administered twice daily after meal for 8 months. Each Tocomin SupraBio 50mg softgel capsule contained 50mg of pure d-mixed tocotrienols as well as 23IU of alpha-tocopherol. The total daily intake of tocotrienols for each volunteer in the treatment group was 100mg. Hair counts and weight of hair in pre-selected evaluation area was measured before and every month after initiation of the study.
Study Results
At the end of the supplementation period, all subjects in the tocotrienol group had positive response - as recorded in the number of hair in the evaluation area. Tocomin SupraBio supplementation group showed statistically significant higher hair counts post supplementation. An average of 41.8% increase in the number of hair was observed after 8-month tocotrienol supplementation, with :-
8 volunteers (40.0%) showed > 50% hair growth
1 volunteer (5.0%) showed 25-50% hair growth
9 volunteers (45.0%) showed 10-25% hair growth
1 volunteer (5.0%) showed < 10% hair growth
Only one volunteer in the tocotrienols supplementation group had a slight decrease in the number of hairs (5.0%).
On the other hand, of the 8 volunteers in the placebo group, only 1 (12.5%) showed more than 20% increase in hair count while 3 volunteers (37.5%) showed negligible increase. 4 (50.0%) volunteers had a decrease in the number of hairs.
No severe side effects were observed in this study, thus indicating that long-term administration of 100mg of palm tocotrienols for up to 8 months period was tolerable.
The researchers concluded that supplementation with Tocomin®SupraBio™ bioenhanced full spectrum palm Tocotrienol Complex may promote hair growth and increase the number of hair in individuals experiencing hair loss.
Other health benefits of palm tocotrienol complex
Do take note that current research studies have mostly been conducted on tocotrienols obtained from crude palm oil, including this hair loss prevention study. There are no other tocotrienol sources that have the same level of research done as such, it is important to verify the source of tocotrienol that you are taking, to ensure that you are getting the research backing.
Please visit the tocotrienol educational website www.tocotrienol.org for more information. Also, you will find information on “bioavailability” of palm tocotrienol complex which will help you to understand the importance of “absorption” of the natural compounds that you are taking for all the good reasons.
All the Best!
» This could be the "boost
thanks natural…I plan to look into it…also I will try to get back on the Toco-8…which while expensive, seemed to give me a boost…Yes…I could probably use an internal cleanse for a boost…so I will also try your suggestion…
My hair has stopped shedding, but the condition of my hair is still suspect…definitely needs a boost of some sort…so I’m hoping by adding that combo will prove effective.
appreciate all the advice!!!
take care

Hey Natural,
Quick question for you…Unfortunately for me…this recent shed seems to be continuing…I’ve been trying to pin point the problem, whether it’s from, diet, stress…ineffective regimen…to much caffeine.
I’ve come to the conclusion that it was a bit of all three,I’m also convinced that the curc/res combo in my regimen has been causing heavy shedding…seems like whenever I take it now…I’m shedding alot!!!..like never before…so I’m taking it out for now.
I was wondering for you. What you may have taken to put a halt to something like this, and how I can turn it around… I will look into the TOXGUARD for an internal cleanse, but as far as regimen goes. I’m really wondering what to do to get back on track. I still have hair and it’s not too late, but it’s becoming very thin, and the quality is suspect, so I’m wearing hats alot if I’m not working.
I plan to stay with the maxi-hair and mineral chelate. As it was the first thing to give me some success and I believe that overall it does provide some benefits.
I’m unable to deal with DHT Blockers…they really screw me up. Even the natural ones kill my libido.
I want to build a diet and regimen that can boost the look and strength of the hair so it’s not all over my shirt…or in the shower,
I hate pulling 30,40 or 50 hairs out of the drain when I show sometimes now…it’s really sickening.
I don’t know how I’ve gotten so far off track.
thanks again for any suggestions.
So just trying to turn around what has been a another downhill progression for the last 2-3 months.
jailbird,
The only shed that I’ve had during the last three years was when I changed curcumin brands from Jarrow to Life Extension’s Super Bio BCM. Apparently, this supplement (equivalent to almost 2800 mg. per capsule) was just too strong, causing many users, myself included, to shed.
It took me a while to recover. One thing that sped up the recovery process (besides switching curcumin brands) was an MSM/vitamin C combination. I also know that stress may render any regimen ineffective, if you are not careful. Vitamin C, I’ve read, is good for stress.
The changes (to my hair) that I have recently experienced are cosmetic: regrown hair has become noticeably thicker since changing to Paradise Herbs’ whole herb extracts (turmeric, Japanese knotweed), rather than just taking their isolated parts (e.g. curcumin, resveratrol). But about the same time, I also started using a Y.S. Organic Bee Farms product (which contains royal jelly, pollen, and propolis), so unfortunately, I can’t tell you exactly which one it is at this time. Still, it may be worthwile to check out fresh royal jelly.
Hope this helps,

thanks natural,
If you have time, would you be able to refer me to a website, or let me know which store you are buying from.
I’m in the southern cal. area. and we have two chain markets that supply vitamins. I.E. the Vitamin Shoppe, and Whole Foods.
Much appreciated…and yes the stress can be a killer…I’m usually good at dealing with it,i’m very laid back, but my job deals in customer service, with many abusive A-holes who feel they need to grind an axe with me on alot of occasions. So some days, I can’t fight it because my hands are tied and I can’t fight with these jerk offs.
Oh and one more thing…I do (did) use the Jarrow brand, and I had been doing well with the combo for some time…but something changed, and it definitely is a factor causing the shedding…because I went off and on to test it and the same day I would go back on the res/curc,mad shedding like WTF,ya know
I’ll start adding Vit C first off
anyway,peace, and thanks.
Yeah jailbird, no problem at all. You might check out iherb.com. I think they may be located in California as well (or definitely somewhere on the west coast).

Yeah, I’ve been at this for over ten years now, and while I am very thankful that my hair loss has stopped, I have also come to the conclusion that more regrowth will be impossible without a good topical (or hair transplant
).
Just started researching the Lamas scalp serum in your regimen. Looks very good.
