Nettle Root and Propecia

#1

I have been thinking of adding Nettle Root to my regimen and i am curently on Propecia for 6 yrs…I think its starting to wear off so i thought maybe i can add nettle root for its anti DHT abilities…Does this stuff work as good as propecia? Is it safe to use with propeica? ANy interactions?? Pelase help me??

Regimen:
propecia 1x/day
nizoral 3-4x/week
Vit B, C Zinc Alternate everyday
Onega Oil 3 fatty acids 1x/ day
Nourkrin 2x daily

I added nettle root (2x300mg daily) to my regimen (amongst which FIN) last year. It works rather better than FIN alone. No adverse synergy. Rather positive.

nettles is only one among a host of natural dht blockers, it works best in combination, with saw palmetto pygeum, pumpkin seed etc

beta sitosterol is also popular to add but watch the dosage

if you are not already on a super hair vitamin you should definitely, get on that, I cannot stress that enough, when i say this i mean a super vitamin specifically designed for HAIR… i mean Ultra hair by natures plus. or Maxi hair by Country life…the maxi hair is the best value on the market

yes I had a little regrowth. But the effect seems to be fading unless it is due to a mild antidepressant I’ve been on for 2 months.
Expect a 2 month delay before seeing an improvement with nettle root.
Hangin is right about the multivit. be cautious though about adding pygeum and Saw palmetto on the top of nettle root. Might be overkill since you’re already on prop.

I Would not worry about the vitamins, making your hair fall out. most of the vitamins are water soluble and any excess is excreted in the Urine, they are mostly super B vitamins Biotin, etc etc, which are extremely helpful for hair

Ultra hair is too expensive though i currently use it here in the philippines since i can buy it locally, if you are in the USA i would buy maxi hair by country life…and take two per day…also you need a chelated multi mineral…why? Vitamins are not even recognized by the body without the proper mineral balance. they will pass right through your digestive system without being absorbed properly. A good chelated multi mineral with dramatically increase the effectiveness of your vitamins…by the way I have been on super hair vitamins for 20 yrs and I know they work…I have tried only vits and mins for 20 yrs before i added dht blockers in 1999, and believe me, they are well worth the cost…btw you can find for 7 dollars, 60 Maxi hair tabs…not bad at all. Ultra hair is double that

I would not worry so much about adding the other dht blockers either, but do it gradually, Add Nettle root, then a few weeks later try adding saw palmetto. Saw Palmetto seems to be one of the most important dht blockers not sure why but I originally started on just that with my vitamins and saw an immediate decrease in fallout , i mean a huge decrease from 300 hairs per day to 15 hairs within several weeks. So do not be afraid to add saw palmetto. it is an amazing product. just make sure it is standardized saw Palmetto, 320 mg per day.

something about the saw palmetto seems to work in different pathways than other dht blockers,

you may not respond to the naturals but for some reason most guys when they combine them with prop, seem to see good results

please dont misunderstand my post
I am not saying you will even respond to nettles or any natural dht blocker

do I hope you do, certainly. Some guys do, I would say more than 50 percent do, and when they combine them with prop the feedback seems to be favorable

regrowth, well it depends. if you are currently shedding a lot of hair and this stops it, then just the fact you stop shedding will see a noticeable thickening of your hair since the natural hair that was replacing itself was not able to function normally and u were shedding faster than you could replace it, so you would have seen noticeable thinning before. if this shedding stopped the hair would have thickened up quite noticeably

did i see regrowth yes. I am one of the people who responds very well to naturals, saw palmetto etc. I saw lot of thickening mostly my top front was see through at first. However this is not a fast process. It took about 3 months then 6 months was very noticeable. 12 to 18 months even better. Over a period of years i was pleased

realistically regrowth is a bonus. If you can just maintain what you have, it is extremely difficult to achieve this, in my opinion. on a long term basis, as in 5 yrs to 7 yrs. If you can do this you really must be solving a lot of the baldness problems such as DHT buildup etc, and regrowth and thickening should also occur because of this.

Just first see if you respond to the naturals. but dont expect quick miracles or even fast noticeable regrowth. When i started on saw palmetto i had never tried ANY dht blockers, including naturals or Prop. that is why i responded so dramatically

just be patient. Also you might want to try adding MSM and Horsetail. Separately. Do a little reading on these. the horsetail will make your hair grow so fast u will be amazed. the MSM will make your hair look like silk.

both are not necessarily for regrowth, but for overall hair health they are very very beneficial

I have gotten major results from even small amounts from Propecia.

But I did a couple of months on Nettle Root and I could never detect any effects from it at all.

if you are already on a strong dht blocker such as prop, you might not notice any difference with adding naturals

however if i was going to add naturals i would not just add nettles i would add saw palmetto and pygeum too, that combination seems to be magic, at least in my case

I am adding the nettles to replace the losing effect of propecia…hopefully it will be enough to bring the power back propecia had a yr ago on me…crossing my fingers!!!

Yes. Give it 2months. The best way to assess a product’s efficiency is to count your hairloss. I’ve been doing so for 2 years DAILY (!!!) and this enables me to know quickly if a change in my regimen is availing or not. You should do so as well because Nettle root is a bit slow on kicking off.

whats all the hype about nettles
It works yes but , if i had to make a choice of the naturals, it would not be my first
my first is saw palmetto, then add pygeum and nettles root. and maybe pumpkin seed etc

nettles by itself is nothing special

if you are getting loss even with propecia i would dump the prop

also if you are just focusing on prop and nettles and ignoring the super hair vits and minerals i think you are seriously making a mistake

the hair vitamins are an extremely powerful addition to the regimen and i see lots of guys trying to say, yes oh i take zinc, or i take megamens, or some other lame addition vitamin wise, this is not good enough, and you might as well not take any vitamins if u take such weak minerals or vitamins as that

Calm down, Hangin. You’re simply forgetting that the guy is on prop as I am. And I cannot say a thing about prop + SP or prop + pygeum. All I knkow is that prop + nettle is better than prop alone. And without extra sides effects, maybe because nettle is said to increase free T from easing on SHBG, an attractive point for potential weak libido sufferers as prop users are. And he should never drop prop. Remember: I downgraded last february from 2.5mg a day to 2mg and I came to shed 400 hairs a day within a month.
As to multi vit, you know I agree with you.

i thought he said prop was losing him hair?

#18

He says that prop is losing its effectiveness but I think this is only a partial loss of effectiveness. I don’t advise him to drop it altogether. Or he will learn what a total loss of efficiency is about. Or, if he wishes to switch to naturals, let him taper prop out and naturals in over a year’s time.

it seems the makers of prop have accidentally stumbled onto the dream, stop using it and your hair sheds like mad…what a lucky break for them to keep you hooked

Yeah,Propecia(1mg) DOES stop working after 5-7 years. After this period of time, whether you keep taking it or not your hair will fall out.The only way you can stop the hair loss is to increase the dose to 2.5mg Proscar. There is no info on how long the 2.5mg dosage will continue to work but it is suggested that it may last another 2-5 years than you will have to go up to 5mg Proscar & than Avodart or go totally bald.Sad but true.

When propecia stopped working for me a drug store attendant suggested I combine it with a multi vitamin supplement rather than increasing the dose to 2.5mg but I didn’t pay any attention to her.
HanginInThere, this may be a very stupid question but how exactly will a multi vitamin supplement stop a person from losing their hair?
