I think the fact that Costeralis is talking release dates on a big TV show is very promising. I agree - in academic circles prestige is more important than money. But he has nothing to gain in that respect by doing this as he is already one of the most respected hair / skin researchers in the world. He does however, have a lot to lose. While the general public won’t remember him if this never happens, and he isn’t concerned by a bunch of losers on a website remembering that he “messed up”, his academic peers would also remember the claims and it would backfire on him if this amounts to nothing.

In addition, I’ve been here years, and the general concencus on Costeralis was that he was a brilliant researcher who was more interested in the science than in the commercial applications of his work (much to the disgust and irritation of posters here). yet now we see him talking about commercialisation and release dates. Now while the dates are probably wrong (let’s face it they always are!) the very fact that he is talking about this from a “treatment” point of view rather than from a purely “interesting research” point of view is very encouraging.
