Matured result 3000 grafts strip, Class V, 2+ yrs - video

In 2005, this class 5 patient had a follicular unit transplant session of 3000 grafts to the front, top, and crown. He has recently come by the office and said that the hair transplant was the best thing that he had ever done. The patient will also return for CIT.

Only 3000 grafts for a result like this?

Dayum…lets rave guys!!! DJ is in the house :lol2:

I noticed that many many times now. The majority of your patients have different hair color in the after pics. Please explain.

Follicular unit transplant, that’s a strip right? All these terms are confusing the heck out of me.

» Only 3000 grafts for a result like this?

Sure. The patient only wants a very small CIT session for a touch-up on the hair line.

Yes. FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant) is performed when a surgeon removes the donor hair by taking a wedge of tissue from the donor area. This particular patient has healed exceptionally well.

This is a great question to have since many of our patients who have lighter hair usually do have darker hair in the pre-op photos. Some of our patients dye their hair because of personal preference alone. We ask many of our patients to dye their hair before the procedure so that we may vividly see the hair under magnification. In this case, the patient’s salt & pepper hair was dyed so that we could see the growth direction and diameter of each follicular unit more clearly.

This is the first time I heard that a doctor asked his patients to dye their hair before a hair transplant. I don’t see other doctors having problems seeing the hair under magnification.

There are not too many results cases being posted of patients with salt and pepper hair. There is no problem seeing these follicular units, but the application of dye does make viewing them easier for the whole staff. This small detail of the procedure can really help the final outcome of the case. In many cases, the lighter hairs can appear to be almost transparent on a donor area. Below is a magnified photo of a salt & pepper donor area. You may observe that the lighter hair almost appears to be transparent. If you count at least 6 terminal hairs, then you have excellent hair transplant vision.

Salt and pepper hair on donor area

Hair dyes are loaded with chemicals, some of the worst and most harmful chemicals you can find, that can’t be good for people who are already losing their hair.

The ingredients in the dye can attack the protective cuticles of the hair shafts after treatments. Hair treated numerous times may even become fragile and fall out. Hair dying may not be a process that promotes hair growth, but a one-time treatment does help the final outcome. Luckily, some are all natural and have henna instead of peroxides and ammonia, etc.

I am seeing a lot of class v patients getting really good results lately. This is quite encouraging as I am fast approaching class v myself. I only wish that this was fue and not strip.

Great result, I assume his crown is still very bald? There is no way 3000 can cover both the front, top and the crown.

CIT does Cole ask both fue and strip patients to dye their hair or is this for strip patients only?

It must be otherwise he would have shown before and after for the crown. I have to say Cole did an excellent job for him with the front, I don’t think anyone can tell this is a hair transplant.

Here is a shot of the crown. The patient has good all-around coverage.

I have a question, you may be able to answer, but maybe not.

How old is the patient, and what made him wait until he’s older to get hair transplant - I know the question is a bit personal,so I understand if its not answered.

Very good results!

That’s not really a crown shot, it’s a combover shot.

I am surprised he could manage a combover for the crown, I guess Cole really “stretched” the 3000 grafts  he did the hairline, front, top, and even the crown !
