Long-term Propecia Users

I’ve been using propecia for 9 years. In the first 6 months of use, i was able to regain thinning hair - it was simply amazing. I’ve been able to maintain my hair; however, i have noticed my hair line is receding slightly. I wonder if the effects of propecia are diminished over years of use…

Has anyone been using propecia over 9 years? what are your results?

Hi Vivace67 i am a long term user. Propecia does not stop working people think that but its not the case. As you are aware Propecia will only stop some testrostrone from been converted to DHT. The rest of the DHT is still attacking the Receptor cells in the hair folices. So it just takes a longer time for hair to die off. But you will never stop your hair loss unitl you reach your genetic norwood scale. Thats what most people over look. You can not stop it. At best you can slow it down to slow to very slow loss.

Been using for almost 7 years now. Was working good until maybe 2 years ago. Lost a lot of ground since then, went from a 2v to a 3v.

Yet another story of Finasteride working for 4-7 years and then suffering a surprisingly rapid decline in efficacy.

I keep saying it, there is something real to this phenomenon. IMHO we should be trying harder to understand it, instead of brushing it off just because our current knowledge about Fin does not adequately explain it.

I started with finasteride in february 1999. It roughly stopped my hairloss for the three following years. I replaced the propecia pill with a quarter proscar in the summer of 2002. Three months later, I had a massive shed and switched back to propecia without regaining the lost ground. Hairloss went on… and in 2OO4 i was verging on Norwood 3. I then took 1/2 proscar. The effect was quick. I went back up to norwood 2 but suffered a loss of libido. but my situation was worsening though. In 2007 I added revivogen and 1000mg of nettle root plus high doses of vitamin B5 and replaced my 5% minox with 15%. The improvement is definite. I am now a Norwood 2 and I advise everyone who is going downhill with finasteride to try nettle root and/or revivogen.

Where do you get your 15% Minox? or is the revivogen the product that contains 15% minox?

Brm, so were you still using 1/2 proscar when you added Revivogen and 1000mg nettle root plus vitamin B5?

Yes, i am still currently using 1/2 proscar. Last year, I tried to downscale the daily dosage from 2.5 to 2mg (while on nettle and revivogen) and happened to shed 400 hairs daily a month later…
What I mean is that adding revivogen and nettle root brought an obvious improvement from proscar alone which could not prevent the slow downturn. Not only have I stopped getting worse but I have climbed my way back to norwood 2.

Brm, do you believe adding revivogen and nettle root brought you back to a NW2, or was it upping your proscar dosage??
