Some findings suggest that Covid patients with pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia are more likely to be severely impacted by Covid than patients with no signs of hair loss.

In particular, one finding reveals that among male patients who are within the same age group, those suffering from male pattern baldness can be twice as likely to be hospitalized than patients without pattern baldness.

Some researchers hypothesize that sensitivity to the male sex hormone androgen may play a role in how severe Covid symptoms manifest in the patient.

And the key takeaway from all this?

Research is underway to evaluate the possibility of using antiandrogens or androgen receptor blocker as a new treatment for Covid-19; and if you are suffering from androgenetic alopecia, you should take extra measures in protecting yourself from this virus.
