Well I took Propecia for about a year with GREAT results. Then I went to Dr.A for a HT which went well and got some fin from India that was ALOT less expensive. Well I have been on that for the last couple years until recently it expired. It was working great and maintaining well but I think getting closer to the expiration date make it less effective? A couple months ago I started to notice shedding I don’t know if it was the expiration date or maybe my body getting used to it and it losing effectiveness due to that. I was taking 1mg/day. I had no side effects.
After doing some research about dut, I decided to give it a whirl. I have only been on it for 5 days and SO far so good as far as side effects go. The shedding seems to have subsided but not completely yet. I used to have NONE with fin. The funny thing is, my GF was less than excited about a reduction in…ummm…“love stuff” but it actually seems to have increased!! There has been a unusually large amount of ejaculate over the last few days. Weird?

the drug kills your sex drive a lot more than propecia. You’ll see. Also, i can’t believe people are still using avodart, the stuff is not safe. I have seborrhoeic dermatitis now after switch from propecia for 2 yrs to avodart. The drug was the worst mistake in my life. If avodart works for you, you will notice extremely dry skin with the first couple of weeks to months.

Well at first it seemed to be great and the shedding that I had from the lack of fin I had stopped. Now, I am going through a WICKED shed. VERY difficult to deal with as it makes me want to run as fast as I can back to Propecia. Not sure what I should do now.
Still no side effects to speak of though so we’ll see.

Hang in there and don’t stop. Shedding is normal. I’m in the same position as you’re in.

If finasteride is working don’t change. The drug is still effective after the expiration date. Dutasteride is going to up the chances of bad side effects significantly.
Also, i see this repeatedly where people think shedding is started or stopped within days and that is not the case. A shed can be traced back 30 days or so as a resting follicle is not released from the scalp for several weeks. Mean if a hair is shed it went into the resting phase several weeks prior to falling out.

would be great to hear back from you… has your shedding stoped? I hope you had the courage to hang in there. Please keep us updated… i’m at 1.5 months on dut 0.5mg/day… no sides … i went through some shedding… but that seems to have slowed down now too… other than that nothing to report.
