Wrong again on many counts. This is nothing about ChickeSpeak; he has other issues.

  1. Read his blog posts; he clearly talks about taking and posting his own pictures - and the fact that he missed his last post due to ‘software problems’.

  2. You clearly do not understand the balance and interplay between academic and industrial research. Not all research is performed or funded by big companies just for a profit motive; otherwise very little social research would ever be done. Also you discount those of us that experiment and document our own protocols and results.

  3. As for why no one will challenge his theory, it is probably because the logic behind his theory is so flawed; it doesn’t warrant being disproved. This is not Relativity that we are trying to prove or disprove; it is a theory that flies in the face of what we know about hairloss being genetic and triggered by hormones. For example, if it is shampoo, why doesn’t it start to take effect until puberty. And why were the ancient Greeks also interested in finding the cause of hairloss nearly 2,000 years before the 1877 invention of shampoo? So by the way many millions of men have gone bald without shampoo - everyone that went bald before 1877!

  4. If someone puts up a crappy website that states that the Earth is flat and doesn’t post pictures to prove it because his camera is broken, your logic suggests that I don’t call it out. Maybe it is all the scientists are hiding the facts for a profit motive.

GC1961, I want the names of the scientists that do not work for profit as you claim. Prove it. If there are such people and I doubt there is, I want to ask them myself if they would conduct their own studies for FREE on the effects of long term shampoo use and hairloss. Lawrence has been literally screaming for scientists and professors at universities to conduct their own personal studies yet not a single person to date has taken him up on his challenge. Lawrence wanted college students apparently more than any other group because that is when most men first start to see signs of hairloss from shampooing.

You know what I find funny is that everyone who posts on a hairloss site is supposed to be a scientist or have a college degree in molecular biology. You know HangingInThere, there ARE just regular Joe guys here that are balding as well as the last time I checked balding doesn’t discriminate based on whether you are a scientist or not.

I am not a member of GetItBack. I was grunge in the early 90’s for a couple years and it didn’t regrow any hair for me but I didn’t lose any more either. I did read up alot in the past week of what this Dr. Lawrence had to say and I just want to give this man a fair shot without all the negativity that you and GC seem to dish out on a daily basis. I saw GC’s pictures and thought they show regrowth but I also find out this guy had hair plugs put in as well. That raises alot of red flags with me now. Lawrence and GC are about even at this moment. I will reserve futher judgement until after I see this Dr. Lawrence’s latest photos. I’ll give him the full 12 hours and if he’s at the Cubs game I wouldn’t blame him as they are playing well as of late.

I not only stopped my hair from falling out, in 1999 i was losing 300 hairs a day, when i added my natural DHT blockers it went down to 20 hairs a day within 2 wks and I have regrown a ton of hair, way more than Lawrence could dream of

but i dont go put up a website saying that natural dht blockers are the cure for baldness, they are not
some guys respond to them , probably a higher percentage dont respond to them than do, i am one of the lucky ones
all of our bodies react differently to different regimens, our metabolisms are different, there is no one answer for baldness it is complex and not easy to
fight

So you doubt that anyone researches anything unless there is a profit motive; is that correct?

So why do people go and live with Gorillas or follow Darwin’s path of studying the natural world? Or why do people essentially give up a big portion of their lives to do charity work in Africa? The answer is that not everyone on the planet is driven by money.

Now as to why scientists won’t do the study on grunge, that is very easy; people perform experiments to prove or disprove theories. The caveat is that the theory has to be deemed reasonable, i.e. based on a reasonable hypothesis or on some interesting observations of the physical world.

Let me give you a hair-loss example; in Germany there has been a mass of research on Saw Palmetto as a treatment for hair-loss. No one can make any money off this, bc you can buy SP very cheapy anywhere and there is no IP protention. According to your thinking this research doesn’t happen because there is no profit motive. In fact there is no payment for the research and it does happen because there is interest in the mechanisms of how SP works.

If you accept this argument then I will gladly send you Internet links to the published research.

If you don’t agree with this argument please explain to us why the Germans invest so much effort in scientific research on SP for hair-loss?

While it is true that many scientists do not work for profit, the money to fund the research has to come from somewhere - the money to buy lab equipment, lab space, testing facilities, raw materials, etc., etc. NONE of us work for free, that is just the way it is. To turn this into something that is somehow evil would not be accurate.

Minoxidil sulfate (true minoxidil sulfate) is VERY expensive and is quite unstable in solution. It is almost impractical to attempt to make a topical solution out of it. Stabilizing it in solution will result in loss of efficacy. Conversion in the skin (by sulfatase) leads to the product (minox sulfate) that is very short-lived.

JT yes I did all this research also; in fact I had an email thread with Andrew Messenger that is still involved in a lot of Minox research at Sheffield University in England.

Interestingly Retinoic Acid and Tamoxifen both increase sulfatase.

Too bad for me that retinoids lead to severe shedding. I cannot use products like Remox because my scalp turns beet red and begins to ooze. I think that this is from overuse of products containing Vit A derivatives for years.
